I shot this a few days ago at my grandson's Cascade Little League game. It's not his mask, he wasn't catching that night, and this wasn't even his teammate. I just have a thing for catchers and the often-unheralded hard work they put in. The catcher here had thrown off his mask in pursuit of a play, and I had to capture this image of it laying in the dirt framed by the feet of the catcher and the cowboy-boot-wearing umpire.

I took some time to shoot a few leaves this afternoon. I like the backlit shots; still debating about the last one. I think I have an affinity for it because it is different. 😃

And, here are my culled pre-spring bloom pictures captured yesterday of our croci and daffodils. (Many sincere and abject apologies to my dear wife for crushing the croci amid the chaos of the capture.)

Thank you for looking. If you like what you see, feel free to share.

Spring cometh. I grabbed a few test shots with my cell before gathering up more gear than was needed, so I could lay on the concrete for 45 minutes to get a 'few' (224 🤪) flower pics. I probably resembled fat Bambi on ice as I struggled to get up, but I made it! I may never move again......

Hoping to share a couple images from the real shoot later today.

The vast majority of the below message was unabashedly stolen from a Lensbaby ad. I didn't simply share their post because I am not here to push their wares (though they have some fantastic and interesting lenses), and I wanted to tweak it a bit because this applies to more thank just photographic art.

I share it here because I firmly believe that True Photography (and all *real* art) is PERSONAL. Sure, I am impressed by a lot of AI artwork and I listen to some AI generated music, but the best stuff - the truly worthy pieces - are deeply personal and truly resonate with the beating heart of the artist.
____________________

In 2025, anyone can generate a "photograph" (or other artwork) with AI in seconds. Type a prompt and you magically get a so-called "perfect" image. No camera needed. No skill required. No moment captured.

And yet—real photography (real art) matters more than ever. HERE'S WHY:

1. PHOTOGRAPHY IS PRESENCE
When you raise a camera to your eye, you're present. You're in the moment. You're seeing light, anticipating emotion, making split-second decisions. That presence, that awareness…can't be faked by typing a prompt into a computer.

2. PHOTOGRAPHY IS TRUTH
Your images are evidence that you were there. That this moment existed. That this light fell on this subject at this time. In an era of AI-generated everything, authentic photography is more valuable than ever.

3. PHOTOGRAPHY IS CONNECTION
The moment between photographer and subject. The shared experience of golden hour. The community of creators who understand why we wake up at 5 AM for sunrise. That's irreplaceable.

4. PHOTOGRAPHY IS YOUR VOICE
The way you see light, compose frames, choose moments, that's yours. AI can mimic styles, but it can't replicate the sum total of your experiences, your emotions, your unique way of seeing the world.

I'm Leafing Now

We went to a local favorite breakfast spot the other morning (shout-out to Covered Bridge Cafe!) and I was struck by the beautiful red leaves carpeting the sidewalk as we walked to the restaurant, so naturally I had to snag some ground-level pics with my cell since the DSLR had stayed at home. It was certainly not a graceful photographic demonstration for any onlookers 🤪, but I'm pretty happy with the results.
