I photographed the sweetest little anniversary session recently and just had to share a few of my favorites.

Pete and Susan were married 10 years ago in a small ceremony in the UK. As so many folks opt for when they elope, they did not have professional photos taken, and wanted to celebrate this milestone anniversary by documenting their life here in Virginia.

The quiet comfort of these two was so lovely to witness, and the ability to include their lovely home and favorite spots around town made this session all the more special.

This poised, talented, and effortlessly graceful young lady is a senior, and I am just smitten with her senior portrait session.

It boggles my mind to say this, but I first photographed Martha Jane over 10 years ago during a sweet little backyard session with her and her brother, and now she’s about to embark on this next chapter in her adult life as she prepares for college next year.

There aren’t words to describe the privilege of documenting these important moments, especially when I’ve had the joy of watching (from the periphery) the kids of friends grow up and venture out into the world.

MJ’s sweet mom, Jenny, joined us for the session, and what a gift (for me!) to be able to provide this experience for HER, because would you believe, 14 years ago, Jenny designed and made me the most beautiful wedding dress that I’m still so in love with, to this day.

Can’t believe this is the seventh year photographing the Sironetti’s as a family of 3 ❤️ This year feels a little extra special as Angie and I have had the joy of watching our daughters become friends. It’s surreal getting together to catch up, and being (delightfully) interrupted by the girls when they request an audience for the play they’ve just created and want to perform.

It’s true that you can never know where life will take you, but if you are lucky enough to have someone like Angie in your life, you’ve ended up in the right place ❤️

Hi, hello *brushes off cobwebs* it’s me! Popping in after far too long to wish everyone a happy fall! I have, as always, been woefully negligent of my social media responsibilities, but only because I had the most unexpectedly busy summer documenting sweet families, stunning weddings, and helping fellow photographers get a slice of their own summer vacation by outsourcing their editing. And then I blink and suddenly, it’s fall!

I’m celebrating my return by sharing this absolutely stunning summer birthday celebration and extended family portrait session. Charlotte contacted me and inquired if I might be interested in capturing family portraits for her mom, siblings, nieces, nephews, and other cherished family members while everyone was in town celebrating Donna, the matriarch of the family, and I responded with a gleeful “Yes!”. They hosted the soiree at the family’s historic farm in the gorgeous Shenandoah Valley, and you truly could not ask for a more beautiful backdrop to gather both family and friends together to eat, drink, play, and laugh.

May we all lead a life that leads us to a lush backyard, with a wine glass in hand and family at our side, celebrating the ones we love.

A large part of my body of work is production photography, though I don't post about it often.

I feel compelled to share these images from Silver Line Theatre Exchange's production of Gruesome Playground Injuries and encourage you to go see this incredibly powerful production. It is gut-wrenching and hilarious and poignant and will sit with you for days after you see it. A true marriage of all facets of creativity from the acting to the design to the directing.

Seriously. Go see this.

It’s commencement season! 🎉

It was such an honor to photograph Caroline, Haley, and Sierra as they celebrated receiving their Doctorates in Occupational Therapy from Mary Baldwin’s Murphy Demming College of Health Sciences. I have to admit, OTs have a special place in my heart, and I am in awe of their commitment to a career of caring for others.

These young women were a delight to photograph, and their poise, humor, and kindness made the entire session a breeze and so much fun. We also lucked out with some of the most gorgeous late spring light I’ve seen this season.

And I would be remiss if I did not also recognize Riggins, the Best Boy There Is, who was a rockstar of a subject and posed perfectly for every shot.

Caroline, Haley, and Sierra, it was such a pleasure to photograph you. Congratulations on this monumental accomplishment. I’ll be thinking of you as you take the next steps in your careers this summer!
