Soaring 400 feet from the bottom of Fontana Dam and still can’t see the lake on the other side. That’s how massive this engineering marvel is. Nestled in the heart of the Smokies, the views here are nothing short of breathtaking.

Built during WWII, Fontana Dam stands as the tallest dam in the Eastern U.S., holding back the Little Tennessee River with power and purpose. The blend of rugged natural beauty and American history makes this spot a must-see from above.
