California's 2026 pelagic season is certainly shaping up to be a doozy, and our July 5th boat with Alvaro's Adventures went a long way toward proving that theory. Not only was I able to connect with a long-awaited lifer Cook's Petrel but we managed to connect with literally dozens of them (see the last photo) as they surrounded the boat for about an hour in the offshore waters. A completely thrilling experience!

Lucifer Hummingbird, Coronado National Memorial

Very exciting to have this bird perch up in good light and natural habitat. Rare anywhere in the US, this particular bird was seen within sight of the Mexican border. Most sightings in Southeast Arizona are at feeders, I'm a big fan of the natural perch in this shot.
