Today is my birthday, and I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate another year around the sun than finally sharing this project with the world.

Just hours before the earth opened, it felt like all was completely lost. Shivering in a rental car after a brutal, sleepless night of relentless rain, we were ready to walk away empty-handed to catch a 9:00 AM flight back to Oahu.

Then, Madame Pele arrived. We watched the sky change, felt the immediate rumble rise from the deepest chambers of the earth, and scrambled to reschedule our flights twice just to witness the birth of the flow.

This is more than a portfolio of a volcanic event. It is a visual record of a moment when the earth chose to speak, and I was fortunate enough to be listening.

Easily one of the most overlooked birds along the C&O Canal trail in Maryland. If you don’t look closely, you’ll walk right past them. 🌲

Found this Eastern Phoebe sitting perfectly on a cable right by the historic lock gates at Great Falls. This is exactly why that 200-800mm setup rarely leaves my camera body these days—the compression is unreal. 🦅

Honestly, be real with me: did anyone actually spot it in the wide shot before the camera swung around? 👇

Spent the afternoon tracking this absolute unit along the C&O Canal. It’s wild how well they blend into the bank until you slow down and really look. The sheer size of their claws and the texture of their waterproof coat up close is insane. 🦫

Pause at the very end… can you see the treelike reflection in its eye?
