The question I get more than anything is, “Aren’t you worried you’ll miss moments shooting film?”
Truthfully, I’ve found the opposite.
Film has made me more observant. More present. More connected to what’s unfolding in front of me. Instead of constantly looking for the next frame, I’m watching. Anticipating. Waiting for the moments that actually matter.
There’s an intention behind every photograph. Every time I lift the camera to my eye, it’s because I already know why I’m making that image.
Looking through these frames from different weddings, I realized they all have something in common. They’re the photographs I probably wouldn’t have made if I wasn’t shooting film.
Film has changed what I notice. The way light wraps around someone standing in a doorway. The way the sun hits a wedding dress. The way a veil catches the wind for just a second. The quiet moments between everything else.
Somewhere along the way, film stopped being just a medium and became the way I connect to my work. Looking back at these images, I can’t imagine telling these stories any other way.
