How have I lived in Stafford for eight years and not known about the Battlefield Country Store? Grateful for friends who invited us to tag along and for the luxury of ice cream on a hot summer day. Side note: you probably can’t tell with my hair up, but Henry is now officially taller than me. 🥲

It’s been several years since I’ve been in Utah. Since it’s been so long, I knew it would have to be something special to get me to come back. Well, nothing can be more special than seeing your first niece get married. This week has been filled with all things wedding and it has been wonderful!! Congratulations sweet Maya and Luii, so very happy for and much love to you both.

It’s been just over a month since we lost Koa (he had been suffering from seizures for about nine months and at the end, they were no longer being controlled by medicine so we had to let him go). We are still adjusting to him being gone and to having a house without pets for the first time in 15 years.

We were glad to receive his headstone this week and today the boys put it on the grave. I just wanted to post this in case anyone is in need of something similar. We used Columbia River Signs (via Etsy) and the granite marker is beautiful and of excellent quality - definitely recommend their services. It’s always hard saying goodbye to beloved pets and having something special to remember them helps.

(Part 2): Natalie and Josh’s wedding was held at the Hummingbird cafe (part of the Hotel Indigo) in Old Town Alexandria. And even though it was raining, the day was beautiful. Their love for each other was palpable - I am so very happy for them both.

(Part 1): I don’t usually photograph weddings but when a dear friend asks you to capture her son’s special day (the same son that I photographed for his senior year in high school six years ago) you say “Absolutely, YES”!!! What a perfect day for Natalie and Josh… many years of happiness to you both! 💍

This year’s Easter was bitter sweet for us. If was a beautiful day at the end of a tough weekend when we had to say goodbye to our sweet Koa. So grateful we had him for the years that we did and so very, very grateful for our Savior and all He did for us.

(Post 2): These kids. Two of the sweetest teenagers that I know. When I was asked to take their senior photos at the cherry blossom festival in DC, I jumped at the chance. It was a perfect picture-taking day, even if we did have to leave the house at 6:30 to beat the traffic. 😉
