Lots of images coming at you in the coming weeks from my work with the LAD Foundation. They own around 150,000 acres across the state of Missouri thanks to the efforts of Leo Dry, who believed these lands should be preserved because of their natural or cultural significance. The coming year my partnership with them will include documenting the special places, conservation work and forest management being done by this awesome group.
You might have been to one of their lands, predominantly in the Pioneer Forest near the Current River watershed or several state parks and natural areas. They work with numerous land managers and agencies to ensure the public has access to all these wonderful landscapes and that they are preserved for generations to come. I'm so thrilled and grateful to be given this opportunity and to share with you all these landscapes and have access to such a special part of the state.
This first location is Colwil Lake, located in the Roger Pryor Backcountry of Pioneer Forest. It's just a stone's throw from the intersection of the Current and Jacks Fork rivers and was a magical place to visit. Tucked in a deep valley, this clear watershed has steep hillsides, abundant forests and a pretty cool cascading waterfall outlet.
