"I have been into giant breed dog rescue for about 13 years, and my Neapolitan Mastiff boy, Dante, was gifted to me as a puppy, by a member of his breed club, to thank me for the many years of dedication towards rescuing the giants in need, all across the USA.๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Dante just turned 6-years old, and he is a 130 # hilarious, slobbering goofball! His breed is known to be wary of strangers, but Dante is very social and he loves everyone he meets! I donโ€™t mean just people, when I say that. Dante is completely infatuated with my 2 cats. He even met a Scarlet Macaw at a festival one time. I am sure he looks scary to some people, but everyone was so impressed to see how careful and gentle he was when he met this beautiful Macaw!

One of my favorite things about Dante is that he makes โ€œWookie noisesโ€ when he wants to get my attention. I donโ€™t know how else I could possibly describe the sounds he makes, but he sounds exactly like Chewbacca from Star Wars, but much louder and more insistent. Dante is super adorable when heโ€™s very happy, too. He bumps the side of his hip up on everythingโ€ฆme, my bed, or anything around, and I call it his โ€œhappy buttโ€.

I love when he props his front feet on the handrail of my back porch, so he can say โ€œHi!โ€ to our next door neighbors, I love the way all of his extra skin falls down his back and puddles right above the base of his tail, as if his โ€œclothesโ€ are too bigโ€ฆSO stinkinโ€™ adorable, he is!"

Here is the first model reveal for the styled shoot this Sunday, October 19th. This is what her owner has to say:

"Robin is an 8 year old brindle basenji. Basneji are generally aloof with strangers; those words are literally in the AKC breed standard. If you want a basenji to like you, you have to work for it. (think cat in a dog body) She generally acts happy when she sees a new person but as soon as she realizes they donโ€™t have a treat for her she loses interest. Donโ€™t take it personally.
โฃ
Basenjis are sighthounds. Robin competes in competitions called Lure Coursing that simulate chasing a rabbit through a field. This sport requires the dogs to basically sprint for 900-1000 yards, sometimes more. She loves it!
โฃ
She is generally food motivated, but as a sighthound she is excited by movement. But that also means she can be distracted by it. Letโ€™s cross our fingers no squirrels try to invade the photoshoot. She can sit/stay & down/stay. Her stand/stay is not as solid but she can do it. She loves to give high fives. We have been working on a sit up and a play bow but they are not reliable yet."
