⭐️ Was anyone else standing out in the cool of the night taking pictures of the northern lights like I was? One of my kids is currently on an astronomy unit in middle school and is loving it, so I woke him from his slumber to see if he wanted to come out and see, but in his tired sleepy haze, he was satisfied with my pictures 😆 Such an amazing sight to see and to my knowledge, we are expected to be able to see them again tonight! 💫

On Angels' Wings came into my life many years ago as a photographer. It probably comes as no surprise to anyone that I don’t have a lot of extra time on my hands and especially not a lot of time to volunteer. But On Angels’ Wings is one organization that I choose to give some spare time to throughout the year. Through OAW, I get to go spend time with families in moments of joy, in moments of the absolute most devastating grief you can imagine, and in times of the in-between and uncertainty that life sometimes brings. I’ve photographed families in hospitals as they’ve just bid their children goodbye, as they’re walking towards their next rainbow of celebration, and as their reach milestones they once were told were impossible. Each journey is unique and each call to photograph a session is one that can truly mean so much to a family’s story. I’m honored to volunteer for On Angels’ Wings and to support their mission. They are in need of additional photographers who would like to volunteer. If you have questions, I’d be happy to answer!

Join On Angels’ Wings as a volunteer photographer. Capture precious moments for families in need. Apply today to make a meaningful impact in your community.

💙💛 It’s World Down Syndrome Day! I asked my friend, Erin, if there was anything she’d like to share about her son, Jamie, who has Down Syndrome. In Erin’s words, “There are so many things I want to say about Jamie and about Down syndrome, but I keep coming back to the word worthy. Jamie is worthy. He’s worthy of life and love and education and the opportunity to succeed. That’s what I want for him and for anyone…everyone should know their worth isn’t wrapped up in what they can or can’t do. You’re special and you’re worthy just as you are.”

☘️Shout out to Jamie and his “Lucky Crew” who love unconditionally and encourage others to do the same 🙌

💪Yesterday was International Women’s Day and while I could sit here and beat myself up for missing it or blame myself because I procrastinated too long to post about it (and actually haven’t posted in an embarrassingly long time because…life), instead I’ll say let’s celebrate Women’s History Month and all the months in between that I’ve gone between posting. 🫣 If you know me in my personal life, you’d know it’s not for lack of being busy, lack of working, or laziness, but instead because of the other 347 things that encompasses the life of a working mom with two jobs, 5 kids, a husband, and, and, and… My best friend and I often say we don’t love when people use they’re “busy” as an excuse because let’s be honest, we’re ALL busy. All in our own different ways. It’s ALL about perspective and outlook. But today and everyday, I love to celebrate women and all that they’ve done, all that they’re capable of, and all that they’ve accomplished in this big, wild, out of control world. Supporting women in business, women as mothers, women who choose not to be mothers or wives, women who choose careers as blue collar workers or otherwise, and raising up strong, independent women in my household is something I feel strongly about. ✊I will forever be amazed at what women can accomplish and the strength they can pull from the deep depths of their being when faced with adversity or challenges. Cheers to the women I already know and love, to the women I will meet and come to know, to the women who have made historical contributions that we have benefited from, and to the trailblazers who will continue to empower young girls to one day become exactly what they’ve always dreamed. I’m thankful, in awe, and amazed. Happy International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month! 😘

🌺 Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas out there! The ones that hear mom, mom, mommy, mommmmmyyy, mama about 457 times per day. To the ones who are trying to hold it all together for everyone, all the time. To the ones who wanted so badly to carry the title, but haven’t been able to for one reason or another. To the ones who carried their babies but lost them during pregnancy or after and who carry them forever in their hearts. To the ones who struggle with their relationship with their mom or their children. To the ones on their journey to becoming a mom. To the ones who unexpectedly became moms and to the ones who selflessly took on the title when someone else couldn’t. Happy Mother’s Day. I see you. Motherhood is the wildest whiplash I’ve ever been a part of. It’s messy, confusing, beautiful, demanding, stressful, fun, hilarious, and every other emotion under the sun you could ever imagine. Some days it feels like you’ve got it all together. Some days it feels like it’s all falling apart. On top of the world, bottom of the barrel, and every where in between. There are an endless amount of emotions surrounding motherhood. Whatever your feelings are about Mother’s Day, I wish you the biggest hug surrounded by your favorite things today. Take a deep breath know that you are amazing, no matter your journey. 🩷🩷

Love being able to photograph events and the ones for Green Park Lutheran School are no exception! So excited with the result of this event and the work the committee poured into it with Laura Pahde Reis and April Brooks Baese leading the charge as Chair and Co-Chair. It is astonishing watching them pull off an event of this scale. Proud to call them friends!

💪🏼 Happy International Women’s Day to everyone! Today we celebrate and take note of the accomplishments of those who have gone before us- those who are famous for their accomplishments, those who have made a tremendous impact on our lives, and those who we know personally who shape and change us every single day. I’ve been surrounded by strong women throughout my life and have learned a great deal about adversity and strength from them. I used to think feminism was a bad thing and judged it without understanding it. I had a jaded view of what it meant to be a strong, empowered woman and that was a baseless notion rooted in misogyny, but I didn’t know it way back when. But thankfully through life experiences and surrounding myself with incredibly resilient women, I have grown and changed my world view and a lot of the ways I used to think. I work every single day to show my children (yes, even my boys), that we empower and we support. We build up instead of tear down, we show respect, we lift up, and we band together. So today, fellow women and men, rise up. Rise up for the females in your life - we are raising little people who watch every move we make and are influenced by how we treat the women in our life. Support the women who support you. Support the females in your life like your life depends on it, because ours do. 👊🏼

Drop a comment about a female you wholeheartedly, unequivocally support or who has supported you. 🥰

🫶🏼 Today is small business Saturday and I definitely encourage you to support your small local businesses. A lot of hard work, determination, long hours, sacrifice, and sheer will power goes into running a small business. Often times the owners wear all or most of the hats from owner, to marketing, to manager, to bookkeeper/accounting, scheduler, customer service, social media manager, creative, and so on. Whether you’re a one person show (like myself) or a business with several employees, running a small business isn’t for the faint of heart. 🍻 Cheers to you, small business owners! And cheers to all of my clients who support me endlessly by coming back year after year for their photos and for all of your referrals. Reviews and referrals are the greatest gift! 🎁

Send me proof with a receipt of supporting a small business today and I’ll take $50 off your session fee. 🩶
