While travelling it's better to carry multiple memory cards with smaller capacity than having one card with massive storage space. If you lose the big one you will lose everything with it however, if you lose smaller ones you may still have some pics in other cards. I am saying this with experience, my camera got stolen in Prague with all the pics in the massive 32gb card. Now I keep smaller cards one for everyday of my journey and keep them away from the main kit as the day gets over.
