Rusty got me a brand stinking new Nikon D850 for our 25th anniversary!!! I’ve wanted one for a year but wouldn’t pull the trigger cause “money” and then my d750 bit the dust a couple of months ago leaving me on my spare. This is a game changer for me! Expect more landscape photos in the very near future!

Last night I travelled north away from the metro lights into into the Illinois River Valley north of Grafton, Illinois where I could take in Aurora under the dark skies and was not disappointed. It's the first time I've been able to just sit and watch the red pillars shine out above the green curtains as I photographed the show. A truly breathtaking experience.

Last night's thunderstorms in St. Louis were perfect for chasing the lightning! It started in the late evening with giant cumulonimbus clouds with a lot of cloud-to-cloud lightning over South City. The action picked up again around 10:30 PM with more cloud-to-ground strikes and lightning fingers dancing across the sky. Here's a 3-shot composite capturing about 2 minutes of the storm, with each exposure lasting 8 seconds.
