A recent bootstrap update to my web site performance to 92 and Best Practices to 94 scores on Google PageSpeed.web.dev. But a little hand tuning got it back up to speed.

Photographer friends... if you shoot Nikon, use Adobe Lightroom and want to shoot tethered, the recent Lightroom CC 14 release is optimized for tethering Nikon cameras. The previous click-to-full-screen display time was about 5.5 seconds. Now it is just under 2 seconds transferring 46Mpx RAW DNG files to an external SSD with 950 Mbps write speed, which is as fast as Nikon's tethering software, with the advantage that you don't have to spend time later to import the files to Lightroom, and have a real time cloud backup as you go if you choose to sync the collection.

Comparison of the DxO Film Lab 7 presets for Kokak Tri-X and Ilford HP5. It has been about 30 years since I exposed film, but I do remember thinking HP5 as having more grain than Tri-X.

Twenty-five years ago, in June 1999, Nikon announced the D1, the first DSLR to be entirely developed by an existing camera maker and the first to natively shoot JPEGs, retail price of $5,500, body only. The APS-C (cropped) sensor could deliver 2.62 megapixels, compared to Kodak's 1.99 megapixel sensor in a Nikon F5 body.
