On Halloween, I got to hang out with Al of Al Holliday and The East Side Rhythm Band and take pictures. The colors were just right.

Al and TESRB have a show coming up the day after Thanksgiving at the Old Rock House. Rumor has it they'll be showcasing some new music.

Not sure if other photographers ever experience this. I do sometimes, when I'm shooting a show. I become very conscious of my 6' height (especially if there's no photo pit) and begin to wonder: why are you even doing this?

Last month I got invited out to take pictures at a lobster boil at Hidden Lake Winery.

This was no night out at a restaurant. This was an intimate dining experience. Seating was at a long table, family-style. Angela, co-owner, had everyone go around the table before the first course to introduce themselves and the atmosphere changed. Prior to that, these were little groups of people who showed up together. After, however, the table was whole, somehow. It was interesting to witness.

The food was delicious and the always beautiful scenery at the lake was truly marvelous in the quiet evening. Keep an eye out for future events like this at HLW.

Anniversary reissue of Trace? Just take my money.

In 1995, No Depression printed its first issue with a story by co-founding editor Peter Blackstock leading the way. Titled “Dim Lights, Small Cities,” the article examined the debut album, Trace, from Son Volt – the band formed by Jay Farrar after he left alt-country pioneer Uncle Tupelo.
