intimate 🎞
this is one of my favorite moods to convey on wedding days, and one of the most difficult. the timeline and order of activities create a wide net for things to flow properly within but some moments stand still, some move in slow motion like a cinema scene. Some are captured and some are missed. this frame was during the end of the dancing, late evening, no real light sources except camera flash or the DJ booth dance lights. chose the DJ booth lights for this - wanted the deep separation between them & the scene, the feeling that lovers get of dancing alone- even in a crowded room. wanted the very minimal outline and glow of the dj light to very subtly give understanding to what was transpiring. I spent years pondering the look of things, the colors of things, while at times failing to grasp the feel. how does love feel? how does it make us feel? would I know love if I saw it? how would one paint love with only a brush & a blank canvas? I believe my mind has finally been able to turn a corner into feeling- the true essence of the human experience. I’ve always embraced cinema and appreciated it for its ability to create feeling and nostalgia but feeling is not clothing or lighting or colors or scenery, it’s not even the people involved. it’s the how and why things occur, the sensations in motion. the height of yes, the lows of no, the longings of life. grateful in this moment below that I was able to see longing being fulfilled and unfolding before my eyes.
