I have some devastating news I have to share with you this morning. These years of colorful bandaids, scraped knees, tangles of snuggles and endless exploring don’t last forever 😭 In the midst of it all I really do think it feels endless. Until all of a sudden there isn’t automatically a hand in yours, a sweet voice calling “Mama?” and there is a quiet that seeps into the moments that were once so full.

The past few summers I have challenged myself to take one photo a day of my boys together. And it is shocking how much they’ve changed, right before my eyes without me even noticing. I am so so grateful for the memories we’ve captured but my heart still aches for how quickly it goes 💛

Back in May, this was one of my first sessions this summer where I finally felt excited after a really tough winter struggling with depression and anxiety — Yup, it is really hard to admit that. But I will forever remember leaving this session and feeling genuine joy again 💛 There is something so magical about seeing more reserved kids relax enough to play and laugh during their session and I am just so grateful for the memories we were able to share and so so grateful for the return of summer each year. ☀️

One on One time, following her whims, leaning into passions without having to balance siblings or a quick run for essentials — I believe I heard at least once if not a few times “This is the best day, ever!”
