My tenants were recently evicted, and the carpet in two of the bedrooms was beyond saving. Their teenage sons occupied these rooms, and let's just say they appeared to be working hard on building some impressive neckbeard nests.
I've never installed flooring before, but I decided to tackle it myself. Overall, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I still need to finish a few details and install the quarter round, but I think it's coming together nicely.
Please be gentle with the feedback—I know how brutal these home improvement groups can be!
Edit: A lot of people have asked why I removed the carpet. The tenants had multiple dogs (more than allowed in the lease), and they repeatedly let them urinate and defecate on the carpet. While the dirt and debris were bad enough, the dog urine was ultimately what made replacement necessary.
Edit 2: I wasn't expecting the amount of negativity I've received simply for being a landlord. I genuinely just wanted to share a flooring project that I completed myself and felt proud of. Most people here have been supportive and offered helpful feedback, which I really appreciate. To those who did, thank you. As for the comments telling me to "get a real job" and calling me a "soulless vampire landlord," I'm not sure what experiences led to those feelings, but I hope things get better for you.
