For the last 14 years the St. Louligans and American Outlaws - St. Louis have kicked off the new year with a soccer game between the fans. This game has collected 100's of thousands of meals throughout the years for the St. Louis Area Foodbank.

Thank you to all the familiar faces and all the new faces that help our community with this event. Also thank you to the long running sponsors Schlafly Beer and 2nd Shift Brewing for keeping everyone hydrated the adults with beer and seltzer and the kids with sparkling waters and sods.

And Finally, thank you to Scott Gallagher SC for continuing to give us a place to play, and for all the Volunteers who put this match together, collect the donation, bring snacks and the fun!

Mitch Morice Bradley DeMunbrun Kevin Marshall Thank You and the addition of the Mulligans this year was brilliant!

And since you can only add 80 photos to a post, there will be a Part 2

I’ve been trying to learn the nuances of dry plate tin types and glass plates. (These are glass, the tin is so reflective, I havent figured out how to digitize them yet… but i have a couple ideas.) I struggled a lot using natural light at 1st. I couldn’t tell if the issues were in exposure or development. Moving the testing into the studio helped me eliminate variables. I was able to concentrate on developing. This was 4 days of shooting, making minor adjustments every day. (Thank you Dasia for the help.)

I’m out of tin right now but next step is to make a new set up elsewhere to see if I can apply what I have learned thus far and repeat these results.

Still wish I had more grey scale range. Maybe that’s just the medium… not physically seeing anyone else using the same material, I don’t know if that’s just how it looks in person. I see them online, but who knows how those were doctored.

After I feel I have gotten this down, it’s onto non-silver printing. I haven’t done that since 1999, so it’s basically starting over.

In a world of cell phone cameras and filters, and the extreme amount of control and instant feedback you have with digital cameras, it can be fun to let go of all of that and embrace extream analogue.

The Hoga is an all plastic view camera with basically a spring made out of a paperclip, controlling the shutter. There are no mirrors, just extremely rudimentary focusing (you have icons of 1 person, 2, 4, or a mountain… no distance measurement), you cant see the focus happening, you just estimated. There’s no light meters, no shutter speed to control, little aperture control (Sun or cloud which is roughly F8 to F11). That’s all you have. It’s basically like a flashless disposable camera.

The St. Louligans and American Outlaws St. Louis Chapter clashed in their Winter Classic to raise food, money and awareness for the St. Louis Area Foodbank

No one knows the final score for sure, but we all know who the winner was... The St Louis Community. From everyone who put this together and everyone who attended... Thank You for all. 🫶

Edit:
FB only allows 80 pics so I am making 2 post. I didn't want to leave anyone's photo out that I captured.
