Tonight's lunar eclipse and Sturgeon (full) moon.
The difference between the two photos? It's roughly 10,000 times dimmer in the fully shaded spot versus the spot still getting sunlight!

Made a little side stop today and checked out some pirate graves!

"Local legend in Salisbury, North Carolina claims four coastal pirates fled inland to farm in Rowan County, only to be caught and executed. The church allowed their burial in the cemetery provided their gravestones were marked with skulls and crossbones--or just crossbones-and left without names."

Shout out to Burnsville last night for turning off the lights in the town square! Was an awesome experience to see the night sky without as much light pollution and see through all the telescopes that were set up. Truly an "out of this world" time! Mayland Earth to Sky Park
