I genuinely did not expect this. At all.
But somehow Iβm currently sitting in 20th place in my bracket with only a couple days left in this round, and today is DOUBLE VOTE DAY!
Thank you all for the continued support. Regardless of where things land, I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and soul. The messages, shares, encouragement, votes, conversations, and support have meant more to me than I can properly articulate.
This whole experience has reminded me how important it is to keep creating publicly instead of waiting for permission, perfection, or certainty. If I make it to the next tier I will share more art experiences Iβve had with you all, and maybe some giveaways. What do you, the viewer at home, think about that?
So thank you for helping breathe oxygen back into the artistic fire. π¨π₯π
I donβt expect to win, but I would like to take a moment to share my vision of what I would do with $25,000. I would start a non-for-profit that would coordinate artists of various mediums for collaboration on a city-centric project that I once pitched to The Pharmacy during an art entry interview and was denied. It was a project I called βThe Sites & Sounds of a Surreal Springfield,β yet the non-for-profit would be used to set up systems for this to be applied to any and every major city.
Hereβs the skinny. I would ask photographers, musicians, and poets to head to famous spots in their city and take pictures of it, record audio from it, and write poetry about it. Then with the photos and audio I would pass them over to painters and musicians to create surreal paintings of the photos and ambient soundscapes from the audio samples. From there, those creations would be gathered to be shown to makers that would then create kiosks featuring each location. The kiosks would showcase the ambient sounds as you stepped up and into them, and they would be a 3D interactive depiction of one of the sites, which would immerse you in the writings, photography, paintings, poetry, and sounds from the site and created about the site.
The installation would consist of about 7 sites per city and could be set up as temporary at a gallery or semi-permanent installations in the spots around the city, which would require working with the city and with fabricators; bringing in more collaboration from the community. Let the artists get as wild and emotional as they want, and have fun!
Iβd love to set up the non-for-profit to showcase community and collaboration with emphasis of cultural reflection using art. The money would fund systems for networking, communication, engagement, mobilization, and collaboration. The idea is to see the world differently in hopes that it sparks new ways seeing and thinking about it.
I wanted to do a small demo at the Pharmacy, but I was denied. So, instead it sat in the back of my mind, and there it has been ever since.
Anyway, thanks for reading if youβve made it this far. That has been a dream project of mine for many years now, and Iβm grateful for the opportunity to share it with you. Now get out there and slap down a double vote for me today if you like my gumption and aspirations.
Thank you for stopping by.
Thank you for being here.
Thank you for being you.
Thank you for being.
