Chris & Angelica had a beautiful wedding day with all of their family and friends. With winter weddings you never know quite what you’ll get from Mother Nature, but it ended up being sunny and warm(ish)!

After getting rained out on our first attempt, D’arrica & Cole ended up with a gorgeous fall day for their engagement session 😍 The colors were really showing off, so I’d say it was worth it! They were so much fun and I can’t wait for their wedding day next year.

We fly out Friday for a Colorado elopement, and I can’t wait! 😍 The location is gorgeous, the weather looks like it’ll be perfect, and the couple is so awesome. It’ll be a quick but epic wedding weekend 😎

(Also, I’m secretly hoping the bear that they encountered while visiting will photo-bomb a photo or two 🐻)

I’ve had a few consultation meetings with brides lately, and a question I keep getting is:

“Do you think it’s ok if we sneak away for a little bit together for food/drinks and to soak it all in, or is that rude?”

Personally, I 100% think that’s just fine, and in fact you SHOULD. I think it’s easy for couples to get caught up in pleasing guests, family, etc and forget that it is their day. Yes, all of those people are also very important to you and your day, but your wedding day goes so fast.

Take 30 minutes and just enjoy your day. Together. Without the hustle and bustle of everything else. Having a cocktail hour is a great opportunity to do that. You can finish up any needed photos, then go relax before entering the reception. Have your planner, MOH, etc grab you a plate of food and some drinks and go enjoy that just married high! 🍾

Bridal parties are such an important part of your day (if you choose to have one).

When picking who will stand along side of you, pick them knowing they will help bring out the best parts of you, help you during the trying parts, and celebrate all night long with you. Do not pick someone because you feel obligated to. That never goes well, I promise 🫣

This bridal party brought all of the positive vibes and party all day long for this couple and I LOVED it!

🤔 What was the most important thing to you when you were picking, or are currently picking, your wedding photographer?

I’ve asked before why clients picked me, but I’m interested in opinions from those who used someone else as well.

Mine: When I was picking my wedding photographer, I loved how she felt so inviting and easy to be around even just at the wedding show. Her work was beautiful, but her personality is what led me to book! 🤍

✨One thing to ask when hiring wedding vendors, is how do they adapt during change and stress on a wedding day.

🌪️ Wedding days are never “perfect.” It will be perfect to you in the end, but I can guarantee something will most likely go wrong on your wedding day. Sometimes it’s little things, sometimes it’s big and messy things.

😎 Good news for you, I thrive in chaos. A lot of my life is chaotic (ha!), so it’s just a normal part of the day. When couples, their family, etc come to me and say “Oh no…X, Y, Z just happened!!” I just simply smile and pivot my plans.

🤍It will be ok, you will be ok, and at the end of the day we will get you MARRIED! I will help you problem solve and keep you calm. All you have to do, is trust that I’ve got you.

80mph winds and rain ripped through this wedding mere MINUTES before the ceremony was to start. Thanks to an amazing team (and the help of family, bridal party, and guests!) we got all decor and place settings torn down and stashed away. Limbs came down, parts flooded, and the rain kept coming, but we got these two married. It wasn’t the day they envisioned, but it was perfect with a WILD story to share!

For the record, I may never recover from this day 🥹

Javy & Ashley are the sweetest humans on this planet, and I was so excited when they asked me to capture their wedding day. Not only did I get to spend the day with them, but it was my first destination wedding. Oregon is absolutely stunning, and everyone should add it to their bucket list.

It also says a lot that I got on a sailboat (and walked across a veryyy narrow ledge 😵‍💫) with them for photos. The sail around the river was breathtaking, and thankfully your girl (who’s terrified of fish) didn’t fall in 😎

Javy & Ashley, thank you for trusting me with your beautiful day 🫶🏻 I can’t wait to see what adventures your marriage holds.
