Last week, I was blessed with one of the most rewarding experiences of my career so far.

My crew of Santa’s helpers set the scene at Extra Care Hair Co. and we spent the day photographing differently abled kids and their families while they spent some extra special time with Santa.

We tried to create an environment that could be fun for all, but especially those with sensory needs.
Santa was SO patient, everyone had their own time to talk to him so no one was rushed, and the families enjoyed hot cocoa and cookies before they departed.

IT. WAS. MAGICAL!

My favorite part were the parents who I overheard saying it was the first time their child had been willing to interact with the big guy. Mission accomplished. 🙂
My heart is so full!

I typically shy away from getting too personal on this page, but I have to tell you about beautiful Kristen and how much easier she has made my life.

We are a special needs family. My son (pictured here) was diagnosed with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, and a few co-morbidities before the age of three.

As neurodivergent parents ourselves, we have fought hard to help our boy navigate the world around him, and from the very beginning, haircuts were one of our more stressful struggles.

We tried EVERYTHING and many wonderful people tried to help us over the years, but haircut appointments always ended in tears until we found Miss Kristen.

Kristen spent time learning what kids in the special needs community need from a hairstylist. She even purchased extra quiet equipment that makes the kids more comfortable in her salon.

My son hasn’t cried even ONCE, and actually looks forward to his time with her.
She does my hair now, too! 😆
We are so grateful we found her! I try to tell everyone I know about her and her salon, Extra Care Hair Co., and I wanted to tell you, too! ❤️

Being at the Buffalo National River at sunrise on a foggy Fall morning is like walking into a dream while you’re awake!
I’m so happy this wonderful couple was willing to get up so early to meet me there. 😆

Julie & Bo have a very unique tale to tell about their wedding story.
