I've got to be honest about something. When I first started my career, I kindof looked down on smaller weddings. Heck, any year before 2024 I dreaded them.

What do I even capture with fewer details?

Where can I hide when there's not a grand production?

I thought less overall budget = a less desirable wedding to capture.

But then, I realized that mindset reflected my ability, or lack there of, more than anything.

So I changed my approach to documenting, I changed my focus at the wedding, and I widened my view. Because let me tell you, intimate weddings can have more emotion, more tiny details, more angles, and more opportunities for creativity to shine.

What I thought was a negative shift in my business actually was a reflection of something I was doing RIGHT, not wrong.

I thought I was losing my appeal to high budget weddings. But instead my work was attracting people who value the same things I do, only amplified through their wedding day.

Boy, has that shift been the biggest blessing. The closeness with my couples and their friends and family, the intimacy I feel with their lives and family history- it's all something I'll always treasure.

Some weddings feel like a celebration.

This one felt like a homecoming.

The dance floor never really emptied. Family circled around them all night. Friends shared stories, laughter, and memories that stretched back years. And even from thousands of miles away, loved ones in Pakistan found ways to be part of the celebration through heartfelt messages that filled the room with both happy tears and laughter.

The food kept coming. The music got louder. The dancing got more energetic.

And somehow, through all of it, there was this overwhelming feeling that this day wasn’t just about two people getting married.

It was about generations.

About traditions carried across oceans.

About families growing.

About honoring where you’ve come from while celebrating where you’re going.

One of my favorite things about Pakistani weddings is the way they bring everyone into the story. Not as guests watching from the sidelines, but as active participants in the joy.

You could see it in the aunties pulling people onto the dance floor.

The children weaving through conversations and celebrations.

The sentimental messages from family overseas.

The friends who showed up ready to celebrate as if the happiness belonged to them too.

Because in many ways, it did.

And by the end of the night, it felt less like a wedding and more like a living reminder that love is never built by just two people.

The strings began to play Wildest Dreams as guests found their seats (anyone else love TSwift!? not me immediately swooning).

The kind of song that instantly takes you back to another season of life, another version of yourselves, before you knew where your love story would lead.

Earlier that day, tucked into the courtyard of the Cincinnati Art Museum , they shared an emotional first look. Before guests arrived, before vows were exchanged, it was just the two of them taking in the weight of a day they’d been waiting for.

From there, we wandered through the museum galleries, where every hallway and every piece of light felt like another work of art. It’s one of those rare places where history, architecture, and quiet moments all seem to exist together.

Then came the ceremony beneath the museum’s grand columns, framed by classic white florals by Courtenay Lambert Florals and echoing music from StringSource that made the moment feel suspended in time.

As the sun disappeared, hundreds of candles transformed the reception into something warm and inviting, the kind of room you never really want to leave.

And then came one of my favorite surprises of the night. The father-daughter dance began just as everyone expected- slow, sentimental, and full of emotion. Until the music changed.

Within seconds, the room erupted into Che La Luna, and what started as a heartfelt dance became a celebration that had everyone laughing, clapping, and eventually joining in.

I think that’s what I’ll remember most about this day. It never chose between elegance and joy. It made room for both.

For quiet tears before the ceremony and the biggest smile to see their person.

For timeless portraits surrounded by art and changing into your afterparty dress right after parent dances.

For candlelight and loud music.

And for the kind of dance floor that reminds you weddings aren’t just about witnessing love- they’re about celebrating the families, cultures, and traditions that shaped it.

If every wedding at the Cincinnati Art Museum felt like this, I’d happily spend every weekend wandering its galleries.

Last year I had an odd shift in my normal wedding routine.

Where 8-10 hours weddings are my normal, I had an high influx of weddings that were only 2-4 hours.

Was something wrong? Was my algorithm off? Was I giving off too many micro wedding vibes?

Here's what I learned ➡️

Yeah there were smaller overall coverage times, but the focus on portraits was prioritized higher than in my last 10 years.

It made me nervous at first because I wasn't used to doing portraits that long, especially on wedding days, but quickly it became the blueprint for even my longer weddings.

It taught me a more documentary approach to portraits versus a quick 15-30 minute fire round. I found myself craving that time especially on the full wedding days.

Don't get me wrong I love the tradition of long weddings, but I also see the need for time. Time to be you. Time to be alone. Time to take each other in.

And maybe it feels like that can't happen in front of a camera, but I promise, being in front of a camera with the right person can push you into that frame of mind even more than being alone sometimes.

So many special parts of G&P's wedding that gave a pop of spring gardens in the snow!

From the vintage plates and glasses to the secret handshake after being officially announced Mr & Mrs, there were so many small details that made the whole thing feel warm and personal. Not to mention Grant and Payton and their ability to bring light to any space 💛

Posting the last of my cold and cloudy engagement session season in hopes this beautiful weather is here to stay!

I've officially wrapped up editing everything my 2025 season had to offer and have been in a quiet season of waiting. Sorry for the silence 🥴

The first order of business in 2026 is the arrival of our sweet boy (any day now!). All my energy has been going into getting him nice and squishy for earth side, then my season quickly starts after!

The thing I'm most excited for right now? I get to be in front of the camera for a bit before then. Sometimes when your job is documenting others you can forget that your memories are also worth preserving.

I'm so looking forward to what this year is bringing, and can't wait to take you along! Swipe to see little squish in all his cheeky glory ❤️
