I had the pleasure of photographing this juvenile Red Tailed Hawk today. These birds are fierce nest defenders: if an eagle, owl, or human gets too close to their nest, they will ruthlessly dive bomb the intruder at speeds reaching up to 120 miles per hour to drive them away.

One of our frequent back yard visitors this summer, the Baltimore Oriole. Such beautiful birds. The female (not pictured here, this guy is a male) is a master weaver, spending up to 40 hours perfecting her hanging basket style nest. I hope to one day find this nest.
