Wow, it’s been much, much longer than I could have ever expected since my last post! This page started out as a journal for me to look back on as the years passed so I could see my own highlights of the places I’ve been and the accomplishments I have achieved for myself. While I have gotten pretty lucky to have such an awesome start to this while I lived in Page, I realized the other day that it is sorely lacking in content. As I scrolled down the posts I am greeted with many wonderful pictures that flood memories of places I have been lucky to have seen when I did. With those places I am also greeted with so many friendly faces from along the the journey of this page, and it almost brings a tear just thinking about it. I miss you all so much and hope that whomever reads this post in particular has a similar feeling of a memory with me. I hope you are doing well.
Since my last postings back some time in 2018 the world has changed, some for the better and some not so. As much as the world we share has changed, so has my life, so here I am to post a minimalist post about the things that have been happening since to fill my future self in on all that I have been missing 😬!
Shortly after I left Page AZ, I relocated to my parents house in my childhood room for a few weeks for the holiday season in Oregon. While in Oregon I matched online dating (cliche, I know) with a beautiful woman that I would date while I was flying based in Arizona. The tricky part is shes a flight attendant in Portland 😅. Boy do I know how to pick ‘em! We dated for an entire year, before I moved back to Oregon to really give this relationship thing a solid chance, and boy did I! One year later, we were married!! What a life change that was! From moving out of state for my first time to moving home for a girl, to marry! I honestly never would of thought I’d settle down, I had almost given up on trying to date anyone when out of nowhere Rebekah comes waltzing into my life for the best!
After a year of living in a quaint apartment in Vancouver WA, Rebekah forced me to start looking at houses. I couldn’t thank her enough for the push (she’s always driving me in a positive direction, and I wouldn’t be anywhere without her). We purchased a house and moved in April of 2021, height of COVID pandemic and bottom of the interest drop! Perfect timing👏!
Wouldn’t you know it another years passed, I have a stunning wife, 2 cats with some questionable anxieties and a wonderfully steady job flying cargo, at this point, as a captain at Ameriflight flying a Beechcraft model 99, delivering cargo and feeling like I’m making a difference in the world, it was very rewarding! Somehow in mid October, or maybe November, I can never remember 😅 the real meaning to my life was about to be revealed.
I’m outside working on some meaningless project in the back of the house and I hear Rebekah screaming. She comes running out of the back door yelling for me, “, Cody… CODY… IM PREGNANT!”
We had been trying for 7 months with so many ups and downs, and sick to our stomach with each test. But finally, it was our turn.
Sedona Page Berning was born August 3, 2022 after 36 hours of labor (poor mama😢) and after a slightly rocky start we had a beautiful, giant, 10.1lb, 22 inch tall baby girl in our arms. My life changed forever and the weight of seeing that baby in her moms arms proved it. Nothing will ever be the same.
I am currently 1 and a half years at Horizon Air. First year was as a Q400 FO, and currently as an E175 FO. By the end of this year I hope to be an airline captain, and my baby girl will be 1 in just a few weeks!
I hope you all know how much you meant to me, and how much I miss you. I hope as I come back around to your area I will be able to reconnect with familiar faces and share my beautiful family with you! I promise I will try harder to keep this page up to date and going. Wether you enjoy following the stories, looking fondly on the memories, or enjoy the photographs, I hope this post finds you doing well and happy!
Cheers.
