Just when I thought this towering anvil (Cumulonimbus incus) cloud to the west reflecting into the Gulf couldn't be any more impressive. The sunrise hit it and I stood there in awe and almost forgot to capture it.

The Legend of one of the most unusual of all marine life, the Sand Dollar.

The five slits on the edge represent the five wounds in the body of Christ. Four nail holes and pierced in the side by the Roman soldier.

There is an Easter Lily design in the center of the top, that represents the resurrection of Jesus. There is also a five pointed star in its center, that represents the Star of Bethlehem.

On the back is an outline of the Poinsettia, the Christmas flower, that represents His birthday.

When the shell is broken open, five small replicas of a dove are found, Doves of Peace.

A little symbol Christ left to remind us of the sacrifice He made.

The Legend of The Dogwood Tree
The dogwood tree was once a large strong tree like an oak tree and was used to build the cross on which Jesus was crucified. Ever since Jesus’s crucifixion the dogwood has never grown large or straight enough to be used for a crucifixion again. It became a small tree with thin limbs.

After Jesus was taken down from the cross, placed in the tomb and on the third day rose again, all of the dogwoods in the forest (which had never bloomed before) burst into bloom. The dogwoods have bloomed at this time of year ever since.

The dogwood blossom has four large petals that represent the cross and carry the marks of Jesus’s crucifixion. The four corners are marked in reddish brown to represent rusty nail holes with blood. The green center represents the crown of thorns and as the blossom ages it often becomes speckled representing blood.

I am not sure of the validity of the legend of the dogwood tree. I do know that every time I see one of these trees in bloom this time of year I think of the sacrifice that He made for me.
