Some warm welcome backs in our world as we roll into September... please join us in the joy! 🧡

First, welcome back to Payton Wyatt after their month of filmmaking in NYC - working on the feature film "Happy Accidents." In their downtime, they went on bagel adventures, visited the Met, and took in (LOTS of) local theater! 🎭

Second, welcome back to Kevin Strickland, a longtime collaborator who first joined Rogue Heart in 2019 - while the creative journey has been a meandering one, we are thrilled our paths have crossed again!🤘

Quieting on social media these past two weeks has helped us show up more fully in other spaces. Time together in our chosen communities has been what's filled our cups during this time of challenge in our favorite city.

Through these events and the miracle that 60,000+ people were safely evacuated from such fast moving fires that consumed so much... we are reminded that looking out for our neighbors is key, and loving them is a gift. 🧡

We are grateful for such a strong, inspiring community - with organizations like...

🧡 Feast World Kitchen, feeding folks so generously as curbside donated meals and at their Longest Table event
🧡 Our Emerson-Garfield Neighborhoodcouncil, hosting potlucks and musical gatherings that kept us connected to our joy
🧡 Our nonprofit member-based groups like EWI of Spokane, Urban Art Coop , and Meet on Monroe that keep community impact initiatives & creativity alive even in times of crisis.

We hope you and yours are well and feeling supported, that you are spending time with the kind people in your neighborhood and networks as we all collectively navigate what has been lost and what remains to be recovered and healed over time.

EDIT: Our friends at SCCU have made the community-focused decision to cancel the Dog Days event and instead run a Donation Drive in their lobby tomorrow for SpokAnimal C.A.R.E., as they work to assist pets and their families impacted by the fire. Please join us in bringing all-age dog and cat foods, pet treats, and clean blankets & bedding to SCCU's lobby tomorrow (8/7) and they'll take the donations to our friends at SpokAnimal!

We're so excited for the second annual Dog Days next week! Shout out to one of our favorite neighborhood artists, our creative sister Mallory Battista, who just debuted her newest - "American Liberty 250," commissioned by KSPS PBS and unveiled at the The Northwest Museum of Arts & Culturefor Saturday's 250 Jubilee!

The sculpture made a brief stop by the studio to be photographed - the thoughtful starry stained glass, gently windblown forged wheat stalks, and the draped tapestry filled with community comments answering "What does LIBERTY mean to you." 🇺🇸 Kudos to Mallory for embracing the free speech aspects of the creation, as well as using her voice to highlight that America is an "unfinished experiment," that we all have a role in defining what the future looks like. ✨

We're celebrating Leah's 1st Workiversary on with a $100 donation to the nonprofit of her choosing - Spokane Riverkeeper🩵

"'Together, for the river.' That phrase, that mission, was an answering call to my own earnest desire to care for the river we call home. Ever since I grew roots in Spokane, our river has been a guide that teaches me what it means to care for our city and the natural beauty we are lucky to live within. I felt overwhelmed at the idea on how to reciprocate that care; that's why I'm so grateful for Spokane Riverkeeper.

Spokane Riverkeeper cares for, protects, and restores our Spokane River, and they do it through community work. After all, 'The Spokane River is a cherished being to all citizens of the region’s many communities.' As I mark my one year at Rogue Heart, I'm truly grateful for the chance to offer a donation to Spokane Riverkeeper and their essential work. I hope, when you have a chance, you'll be a guardian and support their efforts, too."
