A little documentary, a little directed.. your family session can look however YOU want it to! So what is your ideal photo shoot? A little guidance but nothing stressful? Just a chill park date? Not leaving home? Getting out of the house?
The goal is always to have fun, not be stressed(you OR the kids, and to capture photos that really feel like you when you see them! 🫶🏼

Just a slow summer evening with newborn snuggles and toddler play 🥹

I know the thought of a documentary session can be intimidating.. someone coming to your home and capturing the rawness.. and the questions start to roll in.. “Are we entertaining enough to photograph?”, “is our home aesthetically pleasing?” “What if my kids have a meltdown..?” “My kid is autistic.. he/she may not want their photo taken..”

I’ve heard just about it all! But none of it scares me, and it doesn’t change my mind of how beautiful documentary session can be! These sessions are not for me..! These sessions are for you to be able to look back years from now and to bring you back to exactly how you felt in this moment and season of your life! Maybe the house is a mess because you’re wrangling toddlers and life is chaotic or you’re doing a renovation. Maybe your session is a little slower because you’re entering a newborn stage and you’re exhausted and tired.. maybe your session is busy because you’ve got multiple kids who want to do it all and show off all their skills and tricks!
every session is so different because everyone’s lives are so different! But that’s what makes it so beautiful! I get to create art from your everyday life! There’s no expectation.. and I walk you through what your session could kind of look like before hand to ease any worries or questions!

So what’s holding you back from doing a documentary session in this season of your life? I bet you could make a list of way more things you would want to remember in this season then the few things you might be worried about that “might” not look good or work out “perfectly!”

These are the details you want to remember.. not that a random field with new outfits can’t create beautiful memories..! But will you look back at them and truly feel like “this is us..”?

With a documentary season that is my goal..! For you to look back and truly feel yourself! And not just you but your kids, your husband,… Anyone who is there! The pressure is off to perform or to have perfect social media photos.. these photos are for you!

you don’t have to have the perfect home or the most aesthetically pleasing spaces to take photos either…! Maybe your documentary session occurs at your local park where you go every weekend with the kids or maybe it is at your house that is not “perfect” or maybe under construction!

My perfect photo shoot is where you feel the most you and can truly be free!!

Just a glimpse into the last 15 mins of this documentary session..!
This is what I love about letting life unfold.. life is unpredictable! We can plan all we want but the fact is the rain can still come when we least expect it! It can pour buckets and you could stay in side and make new plans or you can make some new memories and be spontaneous and just jump in the rain!

Would you have gone in the rain or waited for better weather?

I have been shying more and more away from mini sessions as they don’t align with what I love to do most and really let life unfold and tell your story…
I know a lot of moms love doing mini sessions with their kids for Mother’s Day but I wanted to throw some other ideas out there!

There is so much beauty in what moms do every day with their kids..! So.. you could..

🤍 Take me along with you and the kids to do grocery shopping!
🤍 Take me along when you go shopping for flowers or as you are planting the garden with the kids helping and playing in the background!
🤍 Let me join you for a fun Icecrean outing or an adventure to the park!
🤍 Your kids bedtime routines!

It doesn’t matter how mundane it feels.. it’s part of being a mom and it’s the most beautiful way to document and capture you and your kids now before this season is gone!

One of the best skills to have as a photographer is to be able to embrace and adapt! Things and situations can be ever-changing, even in a short amount of time! That can be light, weather, personalities, attitudes.. so you need to be able to embrace and adapt quickly no matter what!

We got to do this in a fun way this last week at workshop where we didn’t know who or where we would be shooting until moments before! So fun and such good practice! And my models were all such good sports with it too!

It’s honestly a two-way street! For a photographer, it is such an essential skill to have but even as the client it’s so important to be able to go along with this as well! Flexibility makes your photos real! The imperfect perfections shine and you get to see you in the art I create!
