It’s really fun to always share the dreamy, cinematic couples portraits from a wedding day.

But it’s about time I share some of the less “flashy” photos that will make up more of the gallery than the perfectly composed ones.

It’s important for you to understand when you’re looking through full galleries before choosing a photographer that the majority of the gallery is going to feel a little “boring” compared to the Instagram feed you’re seeing daily.

But your wedding photos are going to be special and beautiful because they belong to you and to your people, even if they’re “imperfect”, a little off center, blurry, or in a crowded corner.

Little backstory on the opening shot:

What you’re seeing there is the sweetest brother and sister reaction that I’ve ever witnessed at a wedding thus far into my career. Big brother gave the speech of a LIFETIME to their mom who was a single mother all their lives. EVERYONE was fu***ng bawling. These moments unfolded after - and then I threw in some others from the day.

These are the moments that I’m always watching for. And with as many weddings as I’ve shot, I’ve gotten pretty good at anticipating them before they happen and knowing where to stand to make sure they’re noticed, protected, and carried forward.

Big believer that your wedding is the perfect excuse to do something really special and look cool as f**k while doing it.

People put so much emphasis on the vows, and they’re important don’t get me wrong but let’s be real, a wedding is just the humans excuse to be unapologetically creative and expressive in the name of love.

You have a strong vision and cultivated taste. You know what feels like you and what doesn’t. What’s beautiful, what’s boring, and what feels a little too expected. You might not always have the words to describe it, but you know it when you see it.

With me you don’t need to have every detail figured out. And you definitely don’t need to hand me a shot list and tell me how to make it interesting.

Give me the feeling. Give me the inspiration, the back story. I’ll do the rest.

My job isn’t just to appreciate your vision. It’s to appreciate the f**k out of it and ALSO match the energy of it. See it, understand it, elevate it.

You’ve spent months, or years even dreaming about how to make sure your wedding doesn’t feel like everyone else’s.

You’ve never been one to follow trends for the sake of fitting in — you have taste, you know what you like, and you know how you want your day to feel.

You’re in the planning phase, looking for inspiration and you’re sensing a disconnect. The venues are different, the colors are different, the design choices are different—and yet, somehow, all of the photographs feel the same.

Because photographing every beautiful detail isn’t the same as preserving the world those details created together.

The photographs should create the same experience as the wedding itself: they should invite you in, give your eye somewhere to wander and make you want to stay.

I’ve spoken with over ten brides this year who have all told me some version of the same thing: “When I landed on your page, it immediately felt different—and I remembered it.”

And if that’s the feeling you’re creating through your wedding—the photographs shouldn’t be any different.

If you’re building an experience meant to stay with people, let’s create photographs that do the same.
