What makes your business unforgettable?

The answer is often in the details your clients remember long after they leave.

When planning Joya’s session, we talked about the elements that are essential to the experience she creates. Her sound baths are an important part of the atmosphere she creates. An invitation to slow down, settle in, and be present.

Rather than simply documenting the sound bowls themselves, I wanted to create an image that captured the feeling of stepping into her space: rich with contrast, softened by warmth, and infused with the quiet sense of calm that greets you at the door.

The result became one of my favorite images from the session because it reflects who Joya is and what her clients come to her to find.

It was such a joy getting to photograph Betsy again! Since our last session, she’s been busy booking commercials and teaching fitness classes and our goal for this time was to create standout images for auditions that feel warm, vibrant, and true to who she is. I love creating portraits that reflect the natural confidence and joy people carry with them every day.

Spring in the studio with no trending audio. 🕊️
When we built this studio, we prayed often that it would be a place where people felt welcome, seen, and beautiful exactly as they are. A place where nerves settle, and people can simply be themselves.

My biggest goal during a session is never just to take a flattering photo. It’s to help someone feel at ease enough that their real spirit starts to shine through. The truest expressions, the personality, the little moments that actually feel like them - these are the things I’m always looking for because the heart of my work has always been to reflect the beauty of the individual back to them. To show them what I and many others see every day.

During the Spring especially, the studio can feel like such a reflection of that intention. Calm, warm, honest and alive.

One of my favorite parts of this kind of work is finding the balance between consistent branding voice and individuality — creating images that feel clean and cohesive for the brand while still making space for each artist’s own personality, energy, and uniqueness to come through.

From the beginning, Joya knew she wanted these images to feel the way her space feels in real life — peaceful, warm, welcoming, and deeply calming. Every detail of this session was approached with that intention in mind, focusing on light, atmosphere, and ambience to create photos that truly captured the tone and energy of her beautiful space.
