September 28th was National Family Day (there are SO many fun holidays around this time of year, and I LOVE IT!) & here’s yet ANOTHER reminder that fall photos are beginning to be the most highly-requested session in my messages - and I have some ideas to share!

As we know, the holidays are one of the busiest times of the year, and I know how overwhelming it can be to think about gift ideas for family members and relatives. I would LOVE to suggest one of my favorite options - fun photo gifts! Think about it! The grandparents who don’t want anything other than “quality time” with their kids & grandbabies? Book a photo session! The aunt that lives out of town but always asks about your kiddos? A photo of your sweet babies on a mug that she’ll use forever! A hard-to-shop-for mom? Today is National Save Your Photos Day (AND September is National Save Your Photos Month!) and you know how I feel about taking, saving & printing photos! What a GIFT taking & saving photos is - not just for you & your family now, but future generations! Most of us wish we had more photos from when we were growing up, and I know I would love to have photos from previous generations! It’s incredible to look at relatives & see how your family has grown, changed & also in many ways, stayed the same!

What an INCREDIBLE honor it is to capture family photos for families with so much love shared between them! I had the privilege of spending time with the Rushing family and let me tell you… what a joy this session was!

I love seeing generations get together and invite along someone to help capture LIFE as it’s happening right now - not to get too sentimental, but life is so beautiful, so sweet and sometimes, we forget to appreciate the NOW because we are focused on the future. We KNOW who holds the future, and our job is to rejoice in TODAY! (Psalm 118:24!)

Talk about a family who knows how to rejoice! I cannot wait to see everyone soon for another round of photos & laughter - thank you for trusting me to capture your sweet family!

Husbands (& future hubbies!) Here’s a quick heads-up… September 20th is National Wife Appreciation Day, and I have a GREAT idea for you! Maybe you’ve dropped the ball on her birthday, an anniversary or two, Valentine’s day plans kind of fell through… If there’s anyone out there with an incredible wife they’d love to celebrate - I happen to know something she might REALLY enjoy! AND because it will feel a bit out of nowhere, a date she won’t expect, you’ll really have a chance to catch her off guard in the BEST way! Picture it - you run a few dates by her and get the whole family dressed in (somewhat) coordinating outfits, she’s in an outfit that she feels incredible wearing, her hair is cooperating, your kids are smiling (maybe you bribed them… that’s none of my business!), you show up ready to smile, laugh & capture memories that she will cherish FOREVER.

Who’s ready for fall photos? I know, I know… it’s only August… but September is LITERALLY right around the corner! I honestly can’t pick a favorite time of year, but there is something so special about fall photos!

HOW CUTE IS THIS SWEET FAMILY?

I tend to talk about newborn & fresh 48 sessions a lot (spoiler: I will continue to do that - don’t worry!) BUT I also wanted to share a quick thought I had about my new mamas & families!

I’ve been able to spend time with a lot of new parents and one of the sweetest things I think we can do for those families - besides love on them & pray for them! - is to show up with a homecooked meal (or a gift card for a delivery service, if you’re not in a cooking mood!), drop it off, & then scooch!

When that sweet baby arrives, it’s easy to focus on that baby and I just love seeing my customers (& friends!) who are remembered & equally doted on by their friends, their family… and every time I see a meal train post on Facebook, it really warms my heart!

If you know a family expecting a bundle of joy, I would love to encourage you to reach out & be part of their village. We see people talk a lot about how the word “community” has changed so much, but it really is up to us to be that type of friend, community member, church member… here’s your reminder to love on those new parents, too! Hello to all of my amazing customers out there! School has started & I see a lot of happy parents… and some less-than-enthusiastic babies… all around town! 😆

What an incredible time of year - there’s a lot of hustle & bustle and it’s SO easy to get caught up in the “busy” of it all. I’d love to take a minute to share how appreciated you are - our parents & grandparents, and families who love on their babies and help them feel prepared & confident, our teachers & school staff who want the best for every kiddo that walks into their buildings & classrooms, the mamas who choose to educate their babies in their homes, for extra love & patience, and for our students of all ages - for safety, laughter, joy & a hedge of protection!

No matter what stage of “back to school” you’re experiencing - I hope it’s a great year! AND don’t forget - if you’ve got any fun & upcoming events that you’d like to talk about, let’s do it! I can’t believe I’m typing this but it’s been a minute (years, actually!!) since I’ve booked a photo session with family members of the 4-legged variety! Talking about dogs, people!
