My favorites from the first pass of processed Pixel 9 Pro phone shots from the recent trip to Cornwall (Kernow) in the place currently referred to as the UK.
The Pixel is a useful tool.

Recent combinations of my pursuits within the themes of reflections, flows, abstraction, and monochromaticity, captured with my Pixel 9 Pro on the New River and Elk Creek along the arbitrary NC/VA border within the Upper New bioregion.

I went through my archives working on a project funding proposal, because I remembered taking this shot of a snow flea (Hypogastrura nivicola) in early 2013.  [Took me about 20 mins to find it on an old hard drive.]

One of the more interesting creatures I've ever seen crawl into my frame, this little dude is about 1/10 of an inch long.  Several could hang out on your thumbnail.

One of the reasons I love macro photography is that I never know what I'm gonna find when I sit still and look through the lens.

The second shot in this post is a cropped detail of the photograph.

More about snow fleas:

"Hypogastrura nivicola, commonly known as the snow flea, is a tiny, dark blue-gray springtail that appears on snow in late winter and early spring, feeding on fungi, algae, and decaying organic matter. Despite their name, they are not true fleas but harmless arthropods that use a forked appendage (furcula) to jump, and they possess an antifreeze-like protein that allows them to survive in freezing temperatures. They are beneficial to ecosystems as decomposers and are harmless to humans and pets. " (Source: U Minn Dept of Entomology)

This photograph is getting quite a bit of traction. It's always nice to have one's work curated by another individual.
