Captain Steve's Delta Adventures Read. Explore. Discover. This page is home to my educational children’s book series inspired by the wildlife, waterways, and history of coastal Alabama.

More than books—it’s an adventure! 🌿📚

Children’s books, curriculum, nature education, hands-on exploration & one-of-a-kind merchandise inspired by the wildlife, history, legends & wild places of the Gulf Coast. Each story blends adventure, science, and heart—encouraging kids to explore the outdoors, ask questions, and develop a deeper respect for the natural world. The books are designed for curious young readers, families, classrooms, and anyone who loves learning through storytelling. Alongside the books, I also create nature-inspired jewelry as a companion to the stories. Some pieces feature my original wildlife photography transformed into wearable art, while others are thoughtfully assembled using curated charms inspired by animals and themes found in the books. Whether you’re here for the stories, the learning, or the little treasures that go with them, everything shared on this page celebrates curiosity, creativity, and connection to nature.

One of my favorite parts of creating these new chapter books has been bringing the places I photograph into the stories through field-book-style sketches.

The illustrations come from my photography, giving readers a glimpse of the shorelines, wildlife and other details that help connect the adventures to real places around the Mobile-Tensaw Delta and near Fort Morgan.

As Captain Steve and the crew investigate what happened in the past, those present-day details help readers imagine what the landscape might have looked like before—and what they might notice if they visited today.

The Ghost Fleet and the Fox and The Lost Village of Pilot Town are written for ages 9–12, with plenty for adults who love local places and stories to enjoy too.

Come see me November 5–7 at the Spanish Fort City Hall Auditorium, where I plan to have both new books!

How do you find a village that isn’t there?

That’s the question waiting for Logan when Captain Steve leads him, Addison and JD to a shoreline near Fort Morgan in The Lost Village of Pilot Town.

What looks like a quiet stretch of coast begins to reveal a much bigger story: generations of bar pilots watching the Gulf, families building a community beside the water, and a hurricane in 1906 that changed everything.

Along the way, wildlife interrupts their discoveries, questions lead to more questions, and the crew learns to look at what remains with a little more understanding.

This new chapter book for ages 9–12 and curious grown-ups brings Gulf Coast history, nature and mystery together through a Captain Steve adventure.

I’m looking forward to sharing it at the Spanish Fort local author event November 5–7! 🌊📚
