As I reflect on the events of this day, I am in awe and wonder at the hand of God and the miracles of the universe. Today I made a new friend and two of my dad‘s paintings came home. When I think of the journey these paintings have been on from the time they were purchased in Southport in 1962 to today I am amazed. The fact that Kim appreciated the artist enough to research him online and to wind up finding me in the process is impressive. But her generosity in bringing them to me today goes beyond explanation. Kim, thank you for this great gift and this beautiful story to share. I am grateful and blessed. And once again, I know with a certainty that I am right where I’m meant to be, here at home in Southport.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 23RD - SHANTY CREW TO PERFORM. Starting at 5:30 pm on the Garrison Lawn.

Join us on Thursday for our first in-person meeting in over a year!!

What: SHS General Meeting, featuring the Southport Shanty Crew singing Sea Shanties and telling the history of Southport's Menhaden Fishermen
When: 5:30 pm, Thursday September 23rd
Where: Garrison Lawn (in front of Fort Johnston)

Bring lawn chairs and/or picnic blankets and spread out on the Garrison lawn. Enjoy your own picnic or snacks while the Shanty singers perform on the steps of Fort Johnston. Hear about the Southport Menhaden Fishermen. All are welcome. No reservations required.

We look forward to seeing you there!!
