Got HDR?

High Dynamic Range (HDR) is a technique photographers use to bring out more detail in an image.

For this photo I took at the Fair Bar in Pinehurst, N.C., I took 3 images at different exposers and combined them in LightRoom. To get an HDR image, shoot one that is underexposed, one at the proper exposed, and finally one that is over exposed.

Digital Photography Fundamentals - Learn On-line (Zoom) - $35

Let's put the Fun back into Fundamentals.

Take your digital photography from good to great, understand your camera controls and learn to put a little bit of yourself into every photo.

Classes will be made up of lectures, demonstrations, critiques and discussions. Students will be encouraged to share their work with the class.

Each class will last 2 hours. Six consecutive Wednesdays, Oct. 7 - Nov, 11.

I was Rude Awaking in Fayetteville this morning to deliver my original art work, Market House Sunrise, created from a photo I took last November 11.

It is printed on a 20x30 canvas with a wooden back frame, ready to hang.

Did you get a new camera for Christmas, and want to learn how to take Fabulous photos? Check out my next Fundamentals of Photography class at Sandhills Community College starting on Tuesday, January 21.

In the class, we start off with the very basics - like how to insert the memory card and charge the battery. At the end of the 6-week program, you will be taking images you'll want to print and hang in your home.

The class is made up of lectures, demonstrations, critiques and discussions. You will learn by doing.

Even if you have been taking pictures for a while, you will take your photography to the next level.

Salubrious Breezes

Known as “the home of salubrious breezes,” Southport, North Carolina is a quaint seaside village located on the Atlantic Ocean where the Cape Fear River ends it's journey.

As I was taking this image, a local residents told me that salubrious breezes is a reference to the gentle winds that regularly blow off the sea in the area. She also mentioned that they can promote personal health and well-being.

This pelican seems to be enjoying a moment of tranquility at the end of the day.
