Summer baseball isn't just about what happens between the lines.

From pregame routines and dugout moments to fan activities, another night at Dempsey Diamond offered plenty of moments beyond the scoreboard.

The Sandhills Bogeys dropped their first game of the season Tuesday night, falling 5-4 to Jacksonville.

A little baseball, a little community, and a summer evening under the lights.

From Military Appreciation Night and a visit by the Moore County 7U All-Stars to another energetic performance by The Bogeyman, Saturday's game offered plenty of moments beyond the action on the field.

The Sandhills Bogeys continued their dominant start to the season, defeating the Oak Island Loggerheads 14-1 in seven innings to improve to 11-0 in the Coastal Division. The Bogeys remain the only undefeated team in both their division and the Old North State League.

Moore County Post 12's Rylan Stephens slides safely into second base as Garner's Jacobi Purvis elevates over the runner during American Legion baseball action Monday night at Dempsey Diamond.

Post 12 held off Garner National for a 5-4 victory.

A season for the ages.

Union Pines’ historic softball run came to an end Saturday in the NCHSAA 6A State Championship Series at Duke University.

The Vikings battled through a remarkable postseason, captured the East Regional championship, and forced a winner-take-all Game 3 against South Caldwell on the state’s biggest stage.

For the players, coaches, families, and fans who made the trip and supported this team all season long, thank you for allowing me to document the journey.
