The session may have been a gift for the grandparents, but I have a feeling these photos will end up being an even bigger gift to him someday.
Both sets of grandparents. All four of them. In the same place, at the same time, loving the same little boy.
Maybe it hits me differently because I don’t have photos like this from when I was little, but man, what I would give for them now.
He won’t understand how special these are yet.
But one day he will.
Take the photos with the grandparents. Your kids will thank you for them someday.

I’ve photographed this kid since he was a newborn.

One of my favorite things about photographing the same families year after year is that eventually, I’m not just some lady showing up with a camera.

They know me. They’re comfortable with me. They show me their favorite books, bring the stuffed animals, grab the dog and pretty much just carry on being themselves.

And that’s when you get the good stuff.

Four years of photographing this guy and getting to watch a little more of his personality show up every time.

Life has been feeling a little bit bigger lately.
I’m diggin it.

I think my favorite thing to photograph will always be the things God created. The mountains. The ocean. My babies running wild somewhere in between.

The more places I see, the more I want to see. And the more I want my work to take me there.

Newborn photos can be cozy at home or outside in the fresh air.

Either way, big siblings don’t have to sit perfectly still the whole time.

They can run, snuggle, wander, come back, snack, and be themselves.

That’s usually when the good stuff happens anyway 😏
