Some family portraits are sitting together, all looking at the camera and smiling, and some family portraits are real moments, snapshots in time. While I do like both of these types of portraits, I tend to like the real moments the best. Here is a real moment in time from my morning at the Moss family home in Needham. This is my fourth time photographing this family and this time in our annual family portraits we are marking the arrival of their second child Tommy. Getting to photograph them exactly where they are among chaos and family was as always an honor to be their documenter.

When I photograph families I have a checklist in mind of the information that they have provided for me from their questionnaires but I’m always looking for those moments: the unscripted ones. Sometimes I get lucky and capture an innocent moment or a tender interaction. This image stopped me in my tracks when I was editing. I am also completely in love always since my film days with black and white and especially nowadays. Black and white images take out any distracting elements and focus more on emotion, feeling and the subject in the photo. I am posting this photo because I love it and also to announce to this family that it is gallery release day! I hope you love your images as much as I do!

I am thinking about opening up some time in my schedule for some late summer mini sessions! I had so much fun doing the ones last fall that it might be time to get that ball rolling again. Holy moly it’s been a long time since I posted. Today I’m back on the squares, to show off this adorable family. Hard to believe a few years ago I photographed these two love birds in the same location for their wedding. Its was so wonderful to have met their adorable little son Larson, to see them all again and to photograph the whole Fuller clan on their beach house property: Lucky Stones. I have a few more sneak peeks coming this way but for now enjoy this smiling babe and these two amazing people!

This past year I had the privilege of photographing alongside my friend a LOT. We have been friends for 5+ years and have shot more weddings together than I can count. This particular wedding was especially beautiful and especially kismet because this is the area where I spent a great chunk of my adolescent years living in. I hadn’t been back to the area in a LONG time so photographing at a venue within a 5 minute drive from my childhood home and photographing the couple on the bridge that I spent many childhood days on was very amazing. Plus this couple was awesome and their wedding was so dreamy and White mountain woods magical.
