Architectural work is all about angles and the way light hits a structure. Time of day, the season, and the weather change everything about how a building feels. I caught most of these just by constantly scanning my surroundings—it’s the gift and the curse of having a photographic eye.

What started as a hunt for a vintage bomber jacket ended up as one of the most raw and honest portraits I’ve had taken of me by my friend and a masterful photographer in his own right | I found the jacket at on one of those perfectly spontaneous Sundays where everything seemed to be in a perfect state of flow. The kind people working there that day even gave me a discount on what I considered a screaming deal to begin with… Thank you for that! As soon as I put it on I got the feeling that this look needed to be a tintype, and there was only one man I knew I could trust fully to capture it perfectly. There’s also something to be said for collaborating with a fellow creative you know and trust. So after a couple of beers and talk of our chosen profession and the state of trying to make a living as a niche photographer I felt vulnerable enough to step in front of the camera. We only took 2 shots - that’s the limitation and beauty of having your portrait taken in a non-digital environment. The first shot was perfect. The expression of my face to me communicates more than any words could. The second shot was just for fun, let’s call it my Top Gun audition headshot :) This experience is the perfect argument for why photography executed by real humans should never be replaced or go extinct.
