From October 2017, here is the first ever Halloween shot I produced with . Given the final look and recalling the complexity of pulling this off (building the set with some nice props from , getting him positioned where I wanted him within it, looking into the camera with a good expression on his face) it is still today one of my very favorite shots of him.

Time to make the pictures again, and this time as I bid farewell to Catwalker I’m traveling to the birthplace of Snoop D-O-Double-G — : Long Beach, California via LAX! Picked up ’s “War” two days ago and I’ll be digging into that on my way! Regrettably I didn’t run into him at this morning (it’s happened before, and I think I did a good job of playing it cool while we chatted).

And it’s about time to put a wrap on ’s North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference , but not before an burn at ! And wow, was this a story of connections in a single class!

So as I check in, the sales associate asks me, “So you’re from South Riding right?”

“Yes,” I reply with interest.

“I’m from Sterling. Do you know ?”

“Yes! She’s our head coach at !”

“I worked with Jheanelle at .”

“Okay! We’ve gotta get a 🤳 after!”

But then, beside me two other class members roll up to the counter who are also from out of town. So I ask them what brings them to town, and they tell me that they’re here for a conference.

“The Cystic Fibrosis conference?,” I ask? They answer yes and I tell them that I’m one of the two photographers and in an instant ’s (a pulmonologist from California who works with CF patients) eyes light up and as she begins to say she recognizes me, I recognize her faces as one of the hundreds I photographed this week, and she exclaims, “Oh you’re the one who knocked that laptop down!”

Regrettably yes. 🤦 We then had some more funny exchanges about that session that stood out to me for the challenge it posed to getting good audience reaction shots, & maybe for the first time ever I got to hear the other side of the frustration from the other side of the lens, “I thought, ‘You had your chance to get your shot, I’m on California time, I’ve gotta eat this salad!” Which cased me to laugh on and off for the first 5 minutes of class.

This was one of her first few classes but the CF nutritionist from her CF center who was with her had her 201st class today!

Thanks to Coach for a great workout to these travelers and conference goers! It made for a perfect start to this beautiful Boston morning!

Had the privelege tonight of meeting a brilliant New England photographer I’ve respected for years now. Eric Snyder and I have been Facebook friends since 2016, and although we’d never met in person before tonight, I really felt I knew him.

I think I sent him a friend request back in the day after seeing the work he was doing with . We’ve tried a few different times to get together but it’s just never worked out.

Our photography roots have similarities; both of us found our passion for it while serving in the and using it to document our worldwide travels. Be also both later turned that passion into our job.

His work is absolutely beautiful and you should check it out at

Many thanks Eric for coming to town tonight to share some great lobster, cocktails, and stories. I look forward to seeing you again up here in Boston or down my way in the DMV!

A quick 37 minutes up and down to Dulles. It feels weird to be just a couple of miles from home but still so far from going home. I won’t actually make it home until late Saturday night.

Off to Boston to make the photos with the amazing people in our world who are working together to not only treat but ultimately defeat cystic fibrosis. From social workers to therapists to research scientists, nurses, physicians, and philanthropists — this is an amazing group of people and I’m lucky enough to make the acquaintance of a few of these special doing amazing, lifesaving work!

Loved my first work assignment to Pittsburgh. This is a really interesting city, with some of the nicest people you’ll meet. and I came here in 2015 to see on their reboot of The Joshua Tree tour. We were here for less than a day on that, my only other trip to Pittsburgh, so it was nice to see and learn more about its history and people in my spare time when not working. I’d really like to come back for a visit with Jennifer sometime.

I’ll share more photos of my travels and discoveries here later, but as I depart from here directly to my next assignment in Boston, check out these cool features of Pittsburgh International Airport! T-Tex and Robots Oh My!

Time to make the headshots in Pittsburgh, perhaps the friendliest city in America!

Kissed and farewell, and then was greeted by a beautiful sunrise at the United end of Dulles’ main terminal.

The airport is surprisingly chill this morning, which is welcome not only on any day, but especially one in which the departure gate on your boarding pass winds up differing from the app and actual gate. Thank goodness for the LiveActivities notification on my Apple Watch⌚️which was my first indication I needed to reroute to an entirely different concourse (D to Z).

Now a bit of First Class on this brief 1-hour flight to the Steel City!

Breaking my dad out of the hospital following a very successful discectomy yesterday that was conducted just over 24 hours ago at Hartford Hospital’s Bone & Joint Institute. Many thanks to his surgical and post-op care team for taking such good care of him. It’s amazing the difference a day can make and more importantly the elimination of terrible pain that’s been plaguing him for the much better part of the last year. He’s all smiles and chatter! Bill’s back! :)
