Meet my new tiny besties. This morning's session with a beautiful family of four started off with a bit of hesitation from the littles. A new person in a new location can be a bit intimidating. Big Brother and I chatted about his new love of Pokémon and he was soon ready to take a photo and show Little Sister how it was done. She found her groove and jumped right in, snuggling with her brother before excitedly taking her own solo shots. We explored the venue to assess the lighting, and before leaving our current spot she reached out from her mama's arms for a hug and some cuddles with me. I think we were all surprised, but I'll hug anyone who needs one. Especially the tiny humans. She did not want to be let down, and Big Brother wanted in on the action, so we three went on a grand adventure across the field while Mom and Dad followed behind. This sweet girl kept coming to me for hugs throughout the session, and I won't lie...I enjoyed every single second of it. Afterwards, we said our goodbyes, Big Brother and I shared some cool high-five variations with each other, and I got in one more big hug from this tiny girl. Mom shared this photo with me, and my heart burst.

Vibrant summer blooms invite the bees to rest on their sun-kissed petals. Bee Balm, a native flower, provides sweet nectar for the bees and a multitude of uses for us. Take time to admire the cheerful shades of pink, purple, and red, and breathe in their refreshing scent of lemon and mint.

Is there any interest in Senior Mini Sessions?

I would host these just like my other mini sessions. One date and location with time slots and a specified number of images, likely within the next two weeks. This would be a great way to get quality photos at a lower price point.

She knew she wanted to end up in the water. We woke up for her early morning session to freezing temperatures, black skies, and zero sunlight. At 6:30 in the morning we decided to push to the afternoon. Not only was the light gorgeous, but it was so much warmer. I'm not sure how much of a difference that made for the water, but she didn't care. Anything for the session, right?

She waded in as the clouds started rolling back in, creating a dramatic and moody sky. A passerby commented that the water looked cold, and I replied "No it's not! It's super warm, and that's what we're going with." We all laughed as she shivered a bit.

We maneuvered around the slippery rocks, with her taking the most risk. Spring brings beautiful flowers and lovely weather, but it also brings snakes and other fun critters. As this thought entered our minds, we joked about what we may find. At one point she paused in the water and looked around. I asked if she was ok and she replied "I'm just thinking about what might be lurking around." I laughed and said "You didn't think about that when you wanted a creek session?" She said "I did. But it's way different being in here."

I joked to her mama that it wasn't my fault if she got bit by a snake.

But hey, art requires a little risk. Right?

Did someone say snakes?

Stay tuned...

Calling all Class of 2025 Seniors!

Your senior year deserves to be captured in a way that’s uniquely you. I’ve got limited spots open over the next few weeks, and I’d love to work with you to create a session that truly reflects your personality—whether it’s something fun and outside-the-box, or a chill, natural vibe that shows you in your element. Let’s make some magic and freeze this unforgettable moment in time.

If you've worked with me, comment below and say hi! If you know of a senior, tag them (or their mama).

When planning this senior session, Mom wanted "someone who can get him to smile and let his personality shine!" Say less. I got you. I'm not like a regular mom. I'm a cool mom. Despite being from the 1900's.

This morning was cold, there's no sugar coating it. In between shots he threw on his hoodie because the wind would slice right through you. He pivoted with his outfit change in order to stay warm, and ended up in a black shirt with a black hoodie. Not quite the rizz we were going for. As we were waiting out some wind gusts I asked him "How do you feel about my shacket?" He looked at me a little confused and I said "It's a men's. It's my husband's. We'll just swap." He thought it was a good idea, so we switched jackets while his mom chuckled.

I won't tell you my secrets on how I pulled these smiles out of him. That will stay between me, him, his mama, and the trees. But I will say that upon switching back our clothing items I exclaimed "If my husband asks me why I smell like another dude, y'all better back me up!"

P.S. In case you were wondering, that was a nerf bullet in my pocket. Working with me means you'll experience shenanigans of all types. You're welcome.

Tulips have become one of my favorite spring blooms, thanks to the gorgeous fields at Burnside Farms. I planted bulbs for the first time last fall in anticipation for April, and I have been so pleased. Walking outside and seeing the array of colors does so much good for my soul. A sweet feeling that only nature can offer.

I had big plans for planting last fall, but chronic health concerns pulled me away from the garden and many of my bulbs never made it into the ground. I forgot about them until I found them in the garage in March. I braced myself for rot and disappointment, but instead, I found green tips reaching for light. They were already sprouting, silently waiting. My husband helped me get them into planters and open spaces in our little garden bed. If they didn't make it, at least we tried! But they did more than just survive, they thrived.

Each bloom is a little reminder that even though we go through dark seasons of isolation, life is still stirring.

This precious boy made his arrival on Valentine’s Day — a day already filled with love, made even more special by his birth. It was only fitting that we nestled him in a heart during his newborn session, a subtle tribute to the love that surrounds him. His mama’s favorite color is purple, so we incorporated a handmade blanket and hat that were gifted to her. Aren't they just beautiful? The personal touches made this session all the more meaningful.

In-home newborn sessions are some of my favorites. Capturing these early moments in the comfort of your own space, surrounded by the details that matter most to you, allows us to create timeless, sentimental keepsakes from this joyful chapter in your life.

I first met this beautiful soul a few years ago for family portraits. Last year I photographed her sister in the tulips, and this year was her turn. It's such a pleasure being part of family milestones, and watching your children grow.

The weather once again affected this session. Overcast morning skies left zero light to work with, so we moved to later in the day to increase our chances. I'd say it was well worth the time change, wouldn't you? We had the most lovely golden light, but her smile and pure joy blew the evening sun out of the water. Speaking of water, more to come with that ;)

Beautiful girl, I had such a fun time with you and your mama. The laughter, silly jokes, and near misses truly made my night. Your session is surely one I won't forget!

When we discussed surprising his mama with senior photos, let's just say my mama heart swelled up and almost burst with how excited he was for this.

April Showers may bring May Flowers, but they also bring rescheduling sessions. We had to shift dates a few times, but ended up having the most perfect weather. His heart really is as big as that beautiful smile. We shared a lot of laughs while capturing these moments for his mom, and we were so grateful that our planning worked out just as it needed to.

As we were wrapping things up, his mom texted "Where are you?" My inner teenager replied "We're caught! What do we say?" before I realized I was a grown adult and wouldn't get in trouble for being somewhere my mama wasn't aware of. I told him "Never mind, I won't get in trouble. This is all on you." Don't worry folks, I let him know I would bail him out should his mama be upset (she wasn't). This is the type of nonsense you can expect should we work together.

Wishing you a wonderful end of your senior year, and amazing adventures as you enter this next phase of life!
