A few sneak peeks from this weekend’s surprise proposal. My brother proposed to his girlfriend, and I got to photograph the whole thing. Can’t wait to share the full gallery with them. GAH!

I met Monica last year at a retreat we were both working at here in South Haven. I was the photographer, and she was leading a sound bath that honestly made me want to set my camera down and join the meditation.

Fast forward to now, we recently did a branding session at her office space for her wellness practice, Restorative Healing Haven LLC.

Using a wheelchair is still fairly new for Monica, and while she’s navigating that transition herself, it was important to her that it also be represented honestly in her branding photos. She wants clients to feel comfortable and seen the moment they enter her space, especially those who may have their own fears or hesitations surrounding disability, accessibility, or chronic illness. What started as a personal adjustment has also become part of her purpose, advocating for inclusivity and creating a space where people feel safe, supported, and understood.

You can purchase now, and she can schedule the session for a date that works best. No need to figure that part out ahead of time.

After purchase, I’ll send you a digital gift certificate. I recommend printing it as a 5x7 or 8x10 and putting it in a frame so you have something nice to give, and then it doubles as a frame for one of your photos after the session.

I’m one of the lucky ones.

I grew up with a family that loved me, supported me, and always gave me a safe place to land. And I don’t take that lightly, because I know that’s not everyone’s story.

I was teased and bullied a lot as a teenager. It wasn’t easy. But no matter how bad a day was, I always had a place I could go where I felt safe and could just be myself.

A lot of people don’t have that. Some are still figuring things out, some are going through really tough situations, and some just need to know they’re not alone.

That’s a big reason I’m part of the South Haven Pride and Advocacy Group. Everyone deserves to feel supported and safe, not just at home, but in their community too.
