The thing I love most about being a photographer is being able to meet new people while doing what I love. Having people trust me will never go unnoticed by me. I will never take any part of what I get to do for a living for granted.

I’m excited to partner with PKR Noodle Bar and bring my storytelling approach to tell their story from the very beginning. Let’s start things off with an introduction to the creative mind behind the food: Chef Mat Ewing.

Meet Chef Mat Ewing

Raised in South Bend, Indiana, Mat has planted roots in the southside of South Bend with his wife Nicole. Over the years, the goal has always been to open his own restaurant, so straight out of high school, he began to plug away at that path. Mat has been in the restaurant industry for 18 years. His career began at a locally owned China Garden restaurant when he was 13 years old. Truth be told, his fascination with Asian cuisine and culture began even earlier when he became friends with PKR co-founder Khoa Huynh in 5th grade. Mat had his first taste of phở at Khoa’s house and was instantly hooked with the flavors of Vietnam. The experiences in food between these two places paved the way for the way he looks at food and the way he cooks. PKR Noodle Bar is the first step in Mat’s reflection of his culinary journey, inspired by his memories cooking at home with his mom, cooking/eating at the Huynh’s house, China Garden, and the years spent leading to this.

While on location in Goshen, Indiana shooting with the drone for a client, I kept looking over to this field behind us as Khoa was shooting. I was obsessed with it and hypnotized by it.

After Khoa wrapped up with our shoot he flew over to this field which was right behind us and grabbed these shots for me.

I had been obsessing over this footage for days. I knew I had to edit something with it and share it. It was absolutely beautiful to see and experience in person. I am grateful to have been there to witness it and even more grateful to get the chance to share it.

It was an honor to be asked by the Miller Family to capture the last moments before their beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather Robert L. Miller, Sr. was laid to rest. Although this was a very unique last minute request, it was a momentous opportunity to add to the story of such a wonderful person. Thank you for putting your trust in us.

Featured at the end of the video is a poem that Judge Robert L. Miller, Sr. recorded of himself reading and had played at his own funeral service for his family as a final farewell.
