Leaning into the moment. So much love for TJ and Nirmal, dear friends I’ve known for years. I shot TJ's stunning beach maternity session a couple years ago, and she truly always brings the 🔥.
When she reached out for this family/birthday session, I was thrilled! I know their kids are amazing, happy children, but little J was having a tough day. As a photographer who focuses on capturing true emotion over perfect poses, I started to worry if I could deliver. I knew that while a moment of tears is authentic, I'd much rather memorialize his captivating smile over his crying face for their walls.
Then, something clicked. I realized: Lean into this. This is who they are today, and this moment is just as important as any other. The pressure lifted, and we just had fun with it!
Frames 17 and 18, where we let go of getting that 'perfect shot' of the four of them, ended up being my absolute favorites.
