I think that’s what I love most about photographs.

They don’t just show you what everyone looked like. They bring back the way this season felt.

The little hands. The personalities. The way they fit against you. The chaos happening mid newborn nap. The things that feel so normal right now that you don’t even realize how much you’ll miss them someday.

Because life keeps moving, and they keep growing.

And one day, these photos get to be your way back. 🤎

There’s something so special about photographing the season right before everything changes.

The waiting. The anticipation. The tiny kicks you’ve gotten so used to feeling. The way your body has become home to someone you haven’t even met yet, but already love more than you knew was possible.

Maternity photos aren’t just about documenting how you looked while you were pregnant. They’re about remembering what it felt like to be here, in this tiny space between the life you know and the one that’s about to begin.

And someday, these will be the photos you show that little baby when they’re not so little anymore 🤎

I don’t know if I caught a single photo without his tongue out and honestly…I couldn’t have been more happy about it 😝

Because truly that’s what it’s all about isn’t it? Capturing their authentic personality whatever stage they’re in. And this is the “we smile all day and stick out our tongue whenever we can” stage.

I used to think that finding your dream meant you’d never want anything else.

So when I built a successful wedding photography business, I thought I’d made it.

And for a while, I had.

But then I became a mom.

Without even realizing it, I had built my dream around a version of me that no longer existed. The things that once excited me didn’t carry the same weight anymore. I found myself wanting slow Saturday mornings, family dinners, and bedtime stories more than another full wedding season.

Walking away from something that was working was terrifying. Not because I didn’t love it, but because I did. I had spent years building that business. Starting over felt like risking everything I’d worked for.

But I’ve realized something.

Sometimes growth doesn’t look like chasing a bigger dream. Sometimes it looks like having the courage to admit your dream has changed.

Today, I get to spend my days documenting the exact season of life I’m living myself. Every tiny hand, every belly laugh, every snuggle, every milestone. And I truly can’t imagine doing anything else.

If you’re in a season where something no longer fits the life you want, let this be your reminder:

You’re allowed to outgrow your old dream.

Because the right dream should be built around the life you don’t want to miss.

It’s true…golden hour hits different with kids 🤣

Mine comes with approximately 847 fingerprints, a couple of mystery smudges, and at least one dog nose print that somehow appears five minutes after I clean the glass.

Past me would’ve grabbed the glass cleaner. Current me just laughs…because I know exactly whose little hands made every one of those prints.

Someday the windows will stay clean. And if I’m being honest, I have a feeling that’s going to be a lot sadder than it sounds. So for now, I’ll take the sunset and the fingerprints.

Send this to someone whose windows have become a permanent art gallery. 😂🤍

There was a season where I thought every free minute needed to go back into my business.

Write another post.
Answer another email.
Film another reel.
Stay consistent.

And don’t get me wrong…consistency does matter. It’s one of the reasons my business exists today. But somewhere along the way I realized that every “yes” to another hour of work is also a “no” to something else.

A walk around the neighborhood.
A game on the living room floor.
One more bedtime story.
An afternoon they’ll remember, even if I don’t photograph a second of it.

I’m still building my business. But I’m also trying to build a childhood my kids will remember. 🤎

There’s something really special about watching families walk back into the studio with one more tiny baby in their arms 🤎

Photographing their second little one felt less like working with clients and more like catching up with old friends. Caffeine ready, soft music playing, baby cozy and cared for, and parents able to simply settle in and enjoy the moment while I take care of the rest.

That’s one of my favorite parts of this job, not just documenting one season of life, but getting to grow alongside families through all of them.

There’s something really special about this season. The waiting, the anticipation, the quiet moments before life shifts all over again.

Baby number four is on the way, and watching this mama soak in these last moments before becoming a family of six was so beautiful. Glowing is honestly an understatement.

I think maternity sessions become even more meaningful after you’ve already walked through motherhood a few times. You realize how quickly everything changes. One day you’re feeling those tiny kicks, wondering what this next chapter will look like, and before you know it, you’re in the middle of newborn snuggles, sleepless nights, and a whole new rhythm of life.

That’s why these moments matter. Not because everything is perfectly put together, but because this version of your family only exists for a little while. The waiting season deserves to be remembered too.

I already know their newborn session is going to be full of so much love, chaos, and the sweetest little moments. I can’t wait to capture this next chapter for them. 🤍

At one point during this session I said “OMG HE’S SO CUTE I JUST WANT TO SQUEEZE HIM” and I think his older brother became slightly concerned for his safety 🤣😍

There’s just something about this sitting stage. They’re full of personality, giving you all the belly laughs and giant smiles…but they’re not quite fast enough to keep me sprinting across the studio yet. Which honestly feels like the sweet spot.

And this baby?! Tell me he’s not giving baby Jack Jack from The Incredibles. I swear he looked like a real life cartoon character the entire session and I was obsessed.

Also…I officially tested out my new brown backdrop for this session and I fear this may become a permanent part of the studio lineup because ??? THE VIBES. The warmth, the texture, the soulful tones…I’m in love. Soon this backdrop will officially be available as an optional add on for sessions too.
