Things you’ll need for your flat lay box on your wedding day.

1. Rings & ring box
2. Veil
3. Shoes
4. Any other jewelry (hair clips, necklace, earrings)
5. Flowers or flower petals
6. Invitation & vow books
7. Perfume/cologne
8. Groom accessories (watch, boutonniere, tie)
9. Anything important to you that you would like included (I.e. I’m wearing my mom’s locket down the aisle, this is my grandmothers earrings, etc.)

Gather these items to have them ready for your photographer when he/she arrives! Save this tip for later 🫶

“Kids are just a part of the adventure!”

A mom of 6 told me this when I told her how nervous I was to have 2 under 2 with a house under full construction.

But in reality, we are living the dream. Busy days, young babies, running a family business, and building our home.

Yes, that does mean huge holes in our house, living frugal, saving every dollar we make, living in a tight space, and difficult nap schedules for the babies, but I HAVE to remind myself that we are BLESSED. The chaos of this season is temporary and a blessing.

At times, I focused so much on the negatives in this season. But the Lord has blessed us with an abundance and we all need to be reminded that we have MUCH to be grateful for.

Summer in Alaska is finally here 🙌🏼

The Lord has gifted us another little one to care for coming in September 2026! We are so excited and thrilled to see what this new little bundle will bring to our growing family. This summer will be a little different than previous summers with Oleson Photography. While we are STILL booking weddings, families, and senior portraits we are only taking a limited number of sessions in 2026 as we are working on EXPANDING our home! With our family quickly outgrowing our current house we will be putting in extra nights and days into adding on to our home. So please do not hesitate to reach out and secure your spring or summer session now with Oleson photography.

There is so much planning, preparation, and prayer that goes into building an addition before even breaking ground. I know for me, it’s not going to feel real until we finally start seeing construction happening. Which will be soon!

Having a second photographer is a must for your wedding day. Why? Here are a couple reasons ⬇️

1. High stake moments — while my husband is at the front of the aisle taking pictures of the bride I’m off to the side simultaneously getting shots of your fiancé tearing up as he sees you!
2. Family organization — this is crucial! Family pictures can be long and frustrating as you try to find family members, call out names, or try to remember all the different groupings. But having a second photographer smooths out the entire process. This makes family photos go from 1 hour to easily 20min. Having another set of hands to organize everyone while the main shooter is only focused on taking the photos saves you time and helps everyone get back to the party!
3. First looks — if you have a first look planned, having a second photographer helps capture your reaction and his reaction at the same time. Not impossible with one photographer.. but very seamless with two.
4. One with the guys and the other with the girls — this is a game changer! in the beginning of the day my husband hangs out with the guys as they get ready and I’m in the bridal suite with the bride and bridesmaids. We do this again later during bridal party photos. This cuts down time a lot!
5. Tight timelines — weddings tend to always run a little late. That’s the nature of it and that’s okay! As the second photographer I help watch the clock and help maximize and enhance your time with us, making sure you get all those intentional shots you’ve been dreaming of.
6. More candids, more details, more shots of moments you didn’t even realize were unfolding.
