What happens at an in-home newborn session with me? Honestly — not that much. In the best way.

You don't need to clean your house. (Truly.) You don't need a Pinterest-ready nursery. You just need to be home and let me follow your family around for a couple of hours.

We feed the baby. We let the dog do his thing. We find the light — sometimes a window, or I bring my own that makes your living room look like it's glowing. We capture the way you already exist together.

And when you're not sure where to put your hands or how to sit? I'll guide you. Gently, casually — into something that feels connected and photographs beautifully without ever feeling forced or stiff.

No awkward posing. No forcing baby into positions they don't love. We follow their lead — the way they unfold, the way they curl, the way they just are — and we document that. Just the beginning of your family's story, told the way it actually happened.

Thirteen years ago, I was trying to take my own daughter's newborn photos.

I had a cute little setup. A tiny bed. Props. All the things I thought made a newborn photo good. I spent way too long trying to get it right — and nothing felt right. Nothing felt real.

I thought it was me. That I just wasn't good enough yet.

I gave up. I set Sawyer down next to me on the bed and just... watched her. The way she unfolded. The way she looked. I wasn't trying anymore — I was just with her.

And then I picked up my camera and took one photo. Her, simply sleeping. No setup. No props. Just her, exactly as she was.

That was the moment everything shifted for me.

It was never about the cute things. It was about her. The way she looked. The way she existed in those first days. That's what was worth documenting.

That was 13 years ago. And I haven't looked back since.

Every session I do now comes from that moment on my bed with Sawyer — documenting each baby as they are, with the people who love them, in a way that's natural and connected and completely true.

P.S. Yes, this is the actual photo I took of her where everything clicked into place. How is my baby girl 13?! It goes fast, my friend. Take the photos.

There are no props staged. No wraps that took 20 minutes to arrange. Just your baby, your home, your light, and everything that already makes your space yours.

That's what I come to document. The warm chaos of a life with a newborn. The way your partner looks at that tiny face. The dog who refuses to be left out.

This is in-home newborn photography — and it looks a lot like your life, just a little more beautifully remembered.

(And yes, if you're husband picks up a guitar to soothe the baby, and your toddler follows suit, you better believe I'm going to capture that moment).

Junior year is wrapping up — which means senior year is closer than it feels right now.

And if I can offer one piece of advice? Don't wait until fall to book your senior session.

Summer is genuinely the best time. Schedules are slower. The weather in the Pacific Northwest actually cooperates. You're not scrambling against a deadline while also navigating the most packed year of high school. You get to actually enjoy it.

Plus — if your senior has a best friend who's also graduating? Reach out about booking back-to-back sessions. You'll each save money, and you'll walk away with photos together that you'll honestly treasure forever. Those friendships deserve to be documented too.

Senior year goes fast. Let's get ahead of it.

Another school year, almost done. And I'm sitting here wondering how that happened so fast.

It's not just that my kids look different — although they do, and it kind of takes my breath away every time. It's everything else. The way they carry themselves now. The things they care about. The jokes they make. The people they're becoming right in front of me.

I'm so proud to be their mama. Like, embarrassingly proud. The kind where I want to stop strangers and tell them about my kids.

If you're feeling that too right now — that bittersweet, proud-beyond-words, where-did-the-time-go feeling — it might be a sign.

Book the session. Let's capture them exactly as they are right now, before another year goes by and they're someone slightly new again.

Book your newborn session while you're still pregnant.

I know. You have enough to think about. But here's why this matters.

Newborns change fast. The sleepy, curled-up, newborn-smell phase? It lasts about two weeks. And those first weeks are also when you're the most exhausted, the least likely to think "I should call a photographer," and the most likely to realize later that you don't have nearly enough photos.

When you book before baby arrives, we have time to actually talk — about your home, your vision, your other kids, your timeline. I send you a prep guide. We figure out the details. So when the baby is here and you're running on three hours of sleep, all you have to do is text me the birthday.
I take it from there.

Newborn sessions book fast, especially in summer. If you're due between June and September, now is the time to reach out.

The part nobody talks about: what happens after your session.

You've had your photos taken. The kids cooperated (mostly). You got home and maybe had a celebratory ice cream sundaes because you survived.
And then... you wait. And wonder.

Did your photos come out okay? What happens next?

I want you to know what's happening on my end during that wait. I'm going through every single image with real care — not just clicking through presets, but thinking about the story of your session. The sequence. The moments that made me catch my breath when I pressed the shutter.

Editing is where I get to do the quiet part of the work. And I take it seriously, because your photos deserve that. Removing that scratch baby gave himself just before your session. Enhancing images to show the true colors of things.

When your gallery lands in your inbox, it's going to be worth the wait. You'll receive a custom slideshow and access to collections so that you can choose what's best for your family.

Nobody tells you about the guilt that sneaks in before the baby arrives.

The quiet worry that you're somehow taking something away from your firstborn. That they'll feel less loved, less seen, less yours. That you've shifted something in your family that can't be undone.

And then the baby comes home.

And you watch your oldest — the one who was just your baby not that long ago — look at this tiny new person like they hung the moon. You see them reach out a hand, whisper something soft, want to be close.
And just like that, the fear dissolves.

Because you realize this baby isn't just yours. This baby is theirs too. A gift your family gave to itself without even fully knowing it.

Overnight your baby became your big kid. And watching them grow into that role — protective, curious, proud — is one of the things I get to witness in these sessions that I will never, ever take for granted.

You didn't ruin anything. You gave them each other.

Maternity photos used to feel like something other people did — the ones who had it all put together. The ones who glowed effortlessly and didn't spend half their third trimester horizontal on the couch.

I'm here to tell you: those people don't exist. And maternity photos are for everyone.

They're for the woman who feels huge and uncomfortable and beautiful all at once. They're for the one who keeps saying "I'll wait until I feel better" — because friend, this is as good as it gets right now, and that's okay. They're for the one who just wants to remember this season before it's gone.
You don't have to have it all together. You just have to show up.
I'll take care of everything else.

Maternity sessions are available now through early fall. DM me to grab your spot.
