I was blessed with the honor to photograph seven Montford Point Marines, ranging in age from 92 to 101. They were attending the 60th Annual National Convention of the Montford Point Marine Association in Atlanta, GA. Master Gunnery Sergeant Carroll W. Braxton, 101 years old, is among the two oldest living Montford Point Marines. The Montford Point Marines were the first Black men to enlist in the United States Marine Corps, trained at Montford Point Camp in Jacksonville, North Carolina, between 1942 and 1949.
