I was blessed with the honor to photograph seven Montford Point Marines, ranging in age from 92 to 101. They were attending the 60th Annual National Convention of the Montford Point Marine Association in Atlanta, GA. Master Gunnery Sergeant Carroll W. Braxton, 101 years old, is among the two oldest living Montford Point Marines. The Montford Point Marines were the first Black men to enlist in the United States Marine Corps, trained at Montford Point Camp in Jacksonville, North Carolina, between 1942 and 1949.

Today, I was honored and pleased to photograph U.S. Marine Corporal James Pack, 101 years old. He was a Montford Point Marine who fought in the Battles of Sipan and Okinawa during the Pacific Campaign in World War II. Listening to him talk about the war and life as a Centenarian was a fantastic history lesson. His portrait and other Montford Point Marines will be exhibited during the 60th Annual National Convention of the Montford Point Marine Association, Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia, from July 23-27, 2025.

Only the VA and Georgia Department of Veteran Services will be on hand to aid veterans on Saturday, 11/02/24, from 9 AM to 3 PM.

If you know veterans who are having trouble getting their benefits, they should attend.

"The Perfect Gift," The African American Organ Transplant Project, is now in the African Diaspora Art Museum of Atlanta until May 3, 2024. I took the portraits in 2020. The exhibit is located inside the Nia Building at 352 University Ave SW, Atlanta, GA 30310. "The Perfect Gift is a photography exhibit highlighting African American transplant recipients, living donors, and deceased donor family members. The exhibit features 33 black and white portraits of organ recipients, donors, and donor families.

The exhibit's vision is to increase the number of African American Organ donors in Georgia. This year marks my 31st year as a kidney transplant recipient.

These are some of the portraits of men who grew up in my hometown, Jackson, Georgia, who were drafted during the Vietnam War. I photographed them inside Jackson City Hall on Saturday for an upcoming exhibit in Jackson. Their photos were added to the Georgia Gallery on the Vietnam Black Soldiers Portrait Project's Website. https://vietnamblacksoldiersportraitproject.com/index.php/services/
