Jon Taylor started Artistic Puppy after spending years in the creative field, first as a graphic designer, then later as an in-house Creative Director. After that ended Jon founded Artistic Puppy with a passion to tell stories and see businesses succeed. As noted photographer shooting around the country some people are surprised to learn that Artistic Puppy is a team of creatives applying their vi

Dear Smithville, Bastrop and Austin friends,

My wife and I are working on a photo project highlighting the stories of people that have suffered devastating loss and are learning to thrive. If you or someone you know has experienced the loss of a child, a home, a beloved pet, a spouse, a parent, or even a loss of physical or mental health, or the loss of an important object like a wedding ring or family heirloom, or something else I haven’t listed, we would like to commemorate your story of thriving or even just surviving amidst the pain.

The plan is to shoot one picture that tells the story that includes the person that has lost something meaningful to them and an object that represents the loss. We will do one photo per topic with an off camera interview and we will choose the subjects carefully. In exchange for participating I will print the final work and frame it for you to keep. The work will be one of hope that doesn’t gloss over the pain. Once complete, all of these stories will be told in a gallery show.

When I do a shoot I first try to learn something about my subject. I want to be thoughtful and intentional so that who they are can shine through. Few are as driven as Senior Jade Elam. It seems everyone I talk to looks up to her. I could quickly see why: National Honor Society, Bastrop Teen Leadership, All- American and All Star Cheerleader, Varsity Fashionista, but really, she’s just an amazing human being. What an honor it was to try to capture the real Jade.
