I've been pretty quiet on social media lately.
The truth is, the last few months have been a little difficult. I've been dealing with some physical health challenges, and if I'm being honest, some mental struggles as well. Nothing dramatic—just one of those seasons where life feels a little heavier, confidence is harder to find, and you spend more time questioning yourself than celebrating your progress.
As photographers, it's easy to fall into the comparison trap. We see incredible work from talented artists every day and sometimes forget that we're only seeing a small part of their journey. I've certainly found myself there more than once.
But during this quieter season, I've also been learning.
I've invested time, money, and a lot of miles into continuing my education. I joined the Light & Lens community and connected with photographers from all over the country. I've made the trip to Arkansas twice for creative lighting conferences, learning how to see light in completely different ways and how to use it to create mood, depth, and storytelling.
What I've realized is that growth isn't always obvious. Sometimes it looks like creating images you're proud of. Other times it looks like making mistakes, trying something new, and learning from the results.
I still don't know if I've completely found my style, and maybe that's okay. What I do know is that I'm drawn to color, true-to-life skin tones, and beautiful light. I love images that feel authentic and timeless.
So if you've noticed I've been a little quieter, that's why. I've been healing, learning, growing, and trying to rediscover the joy that first made me pick up a camera.
This year, my goal isn't perfection. It's progress.
And maybe the best images are still ahead of me.
